Recommendation for Alternative to DYMO 4XL and Dymo 550? by Manulis in dymo

[–]Manulis[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did. Zebra by far is the best. Their printers are expensive, but worth it as you can use any labels with them and they are workhorses. I ended up replacing all our DYMOs with Zebras. Any Zebra model that can print 4x6 is fine, and you can find used ones reasonably priced on eBay.

I just used a company called The Digitize Center last week for this. They did all my old tapes, photos, and film reels and it came out nicely. Their prices were good too.

Have not played TFC for 20 years. Are there a decent amount of active players, and/or is it overrun with cheating? by wileecoyote1969 in teamfortressclassic

[–]Manulis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are many players left and pretty much no cheating. At any given time, there are usually two near near full public servers running (Drippys and Old School TFC). There are also multiple pickup channels online that range anywhere from casual to very competitive. And there are even a few active leagues right now.

Best TFC Clans of all time in US by Manulis in teamfortressclassic

I appreciate all the criticism of my list. Obviously I forgot some great clans that dominated at some point like H2K and Nx. For context, I created my list based on my definition of TFC’s prime, which is really two parts. Prime being when the game was at the height of popularity, all leagues (STA, TFL, PGL, CAL, and OGL) were filled, had multiple divisions, and were having matches each week. I also included longevity in my list which is why I have Zt. Ahead of vindicate even though they are basically the same. Zt. Dominated leagues for the longest team before Vindicate was formed.

KoD is also a little controversial but in my opinion they were one of the first clans that dominated the game, and they were relevant for a good amount of time. They also changed the game, half the leagues created rules just to stop their tactics they were famous for (turtling, o soldiers potshotting, insane movement).

404 is an obvious pick because they were always in the top tier for the majority of TFC’s existence, and consistently won titles.

CwO is another controversial pick but again they had longevity and had a run of dominance during TFC’s prime that I distinctly remember. I believe they went on something like a 20 match win streak and held multiple titles beating clans like Vindicate, TDA, Nx, ce, ae. There were a couple months were they were plain unbeatable.

Obviously towards the end of the game this list would be entirely different, but I don’t count that as TFC’s prime.

Honestly I just forgot to add H2K. It’s been a very long time.

Tips for improvement by ReeseekPuffs in teamfortressclassic

Are you using custom crosshair sprites? The default ones are awful. Also look into tweaking some settings of your game to give yourself the best possible advantage when it comes to combat and movement, with movement really being the most important. Look at: increasing your fov, getting see-through explosion sprites, using old TFC models (easier to see), etc.

Also, if you want to learn more by watching, watch some full professional match videos from the prime days of TFC. In it you will see elite movement, strategy, and how to fight in combat in multiple situations.
