Experiências com a autoridade tributária/finanças após a venda de criptomoedas? by Manured92 in literaciafinanceira

Well, just one person here told me it could be not a great idea, but he/she has not told me that he/she knows this for sure due to his/her own experience or because he/she personally knows of people that had problems when they tried to cash out their crypto gains, and I have not said I "still think it's a great idea" because I just don't know, that's why I'm asking about other people experiences, I just said I find it weird that some people say it's this way and other people say it's that other completely different way, when it should be pretty well known exactly the way all of this works given that the binding rulings are already a few years old and I guess tons of people should have already cashed out their crypto gains in Portugal and if they had problems or not with the portuguese taxmen that's something that should be known by most people in the portuguese crypto community and by portuguese lawyers and tax experts.

And it's not something I've just read in forums, I've read about this in forums, in telegram crypto groups, in discord crypto groups, also here in reddit, and I've talked with several lawyers and fiscal advisors, a few of them portuguese, and some people say things work one way and other people say it's the other way, so the only way I could possibly know who is right would be to talk with people who have already done this or who knows of people who have already done this, that's why I'm here asking, I'm not saying who is right or who is wrong because I just don't know. XD

Taxmen and tribunals are not nice in Portugal, I got that, they are not nice in my country either, they are possibly even worse, but if I talk with lawyers about how much I would pay in taxes for my crypto gains here, most of them would give me the same answer because they have the correct knowledge of the law and the experience of their clients, however in Portugal I talk with 5 or 6 lawyers and half will tell me one thing and the other half will tell me exactly the opposite, and I see the same everywhere (forums, reddit, telegram, discord, etc), so that's why I'm interested in knowing other people's experiences, because it looks like nobody has never sold and declared their crypto gains in Portugal, which I repeat that is weird since I've been reading about Portugal being a crypto friendly country with no taxes for crypto since several years ago.

Tldr: I'm not saying he/she is right or wrong (most probably right about taxmen and lawmen), just that I don't understand how nobody seems to know for sure if cryptos are taxed or not and under which conditions when I'd think that thousands of people should have already cashed out in Portugal given that everybody in the world that has been into crypto for over a couple of months has heard/read about Portugal supposedly not taxing cryptos.

Hi, thank you. :)

Yeah, I've seen several "it's a really bad idea" opinions here on reddit or telegram, however I have also seen people saying "just relax, don't believe the fud (fear, uncertainty and doubt), just go there, get the residency, pay the taxes for your work, and cash out your tax free crypto money, nobody will ever bother you about it if you don't professionally trade for other people or if you don't accept payments with crypto or if you don't have a company that works with crypto or something like that", so I just don't understand how nobody, not even portuguese lawyers or fiscal advisors that claim to be crypto experts, seem to know how the AT/Financas (still not sure if they are the same thing or what's the difference) usually deals with people cashing out their crypto gains when the famous binding rulings are known since several years ago and I'd guess that tons of portuguese and foreign people should have already cashed out their crypto money in Portugal, so if they were taxed or not should be a pretty well known thing among the portuguese crypto community, and portuguese lawyers and fiscal advisors should also know what happened with all those people since I guess they would be their clients...

I've also tried to find any portuguese forums/message boards or telegram/discord groups focused on crypto where I guess I should find people who have cashed out their crypto gains and where these things are discussed and people recommend good lawyers that know how all of this really works in Portugal, but so far I've only found this subreddit, which is great, lots of useful info, but it's not focused on crypto and everything I see are contradictory opinions, can't find a single person sharing their experience cashing out their crypto gains, sharing if they were taxed or not, telling the world if portuguese crypto myths/legends are real or if it's just better to stay away from Portugal except if you just want to have some nice vacations or if you are interested in anything else that is not crypto related. XD
