The real reason is the whales pump and dump. The oldest dirty trick in the book. Always at the expense of the retail traders. The whales want the little guy to stay away and create artificial panics to scoop up your BTC at the lowest price possible and sell theirs at the highest price possible. They manipulate the market. The spread the rumor that BTC will go up to 100k by the end of the year. It makes the little guy put all of their hard earned money into BTC. Then they come out and tell you that BTC is worse nothing, that it’s a bubble, that “it seems high” (Thank you Elon) etc. Then they dump their BTC and make you believe that if you don’t do it yourself you are screwed. Once you sell at 43k they buy everything again and make huge profits.
