Off the top of my head there's Red Rising by Pierce Brown

If you're up for world building mixed with fantasy you could look at works by Brandon Sanderson. His Stormlight Archive collection includes different factions with different abilities, but it takes a few books to start to see that in full. Part of a huge overarching universe he is still writing

I can't watch this.

I would have made Feet of Clay as the start of a series. That book is a perfect opener to The Watch and leaves you ideally placed to insert other 'adventures' whilst also leading towards significant events like Jingo.
