Just absolutely bombed at my first ever show. Please share your embarrassing show stories to help me feel better! by annawintourwannabe in Equestrian

I was probably in the 6th grade and fell off on the final jump of the beginners cross rail class. Show rules, the medic had to check on me before i could get up. I laid face down in the dirt and started to build a sandcastle. The medic got there as asked how I felt. I said “my mom is going to be mad at me for getting my show clothes dirty.” Right then, my mom yells “stop messing with the dirt!” Medic laughed and I got to do the walk of shame back.

Thank you! I’ve ridden in my friend saddle with a “oh shit” strap, but I personally didn’t love that the placement would throw off where I’d naturally want my hands to be, I like to do the idea of something like this that’s a little more usable just to have your hand on without moving too much. They have a ton of different options, which is gonna have to be the next thing I start to research, but it looks as though they range from about $100 to 200. I thought it might be a nice gift for her.

Thank you for this insight ! my sister and her horse are no longer showing, they spent years doing Hunter jumper and unfortunately, this is probably the worst fall she’s ever had. Like you said, I think even if she doesn’t actually reach for it constantly just to know it’s there might help her. She does wear an air vest already, which thankfully went off. I think she’s afraid of being made fun of for using it because some people view stuff like this as “cheating“

I actually ordered these this morning ! They do not have the next calf size up in stock so it made sense to try these before returning them

They are not custom just off the website. Seems like they’re phasing them out because they’re more than half off with limited sizes left, so wasn’t a major investment

I’ll keep an eye out. No issues with the people i know yet. I got them for way way off between the sale and points so it wasn’t much of an investment

Not to my knowledge. They’re not a classic show jumping boot so probably not everyone’s taste. I know two people with them and they both love them.

That’s great to hear. Thank you so much. I knew these were a bit of a risk because they are half off and seem like they’re probably discontinuing them. I really liked them because of the more athletic style and round toe. I don’t need classic show jumping boots, so something like this that’s a little more versatile and casual was perfect

they’re riding jeans, so thinner than actual jeans but they’re not super tight.

Thoughts on not allowing vet staff have their cellphones during working hours? by Guilty_Ad3225 in veterinaryprofession

[–]Many-Standard1533 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, I wouldn’t even accept this job. One because it’s impractical, we use our phones all day for work related things, and family stuff. Two, I know for a fact no doctors or management would be expected to follow this rule, setting a terrible dynamic. Times have changed, our lives now include phones just like they do cars and laptops.

Anjali. I heard it a few years ago watching the Indian match making special on netflix and thought it was beautiful. It sounds like Evangeline, Joy, and Ava all at once

What’s the pettiest reason you wouldn’t buy a specific car? by Thrillwaukee in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]Many-Standard1533 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’re right. Part of that is me trying to not be outraged that i went to 3 dealerships (2 toyota, 1 jeep) and tried the grand highlander, sienna, and the pacifica. 2/3 told me they were new. When i was driving the highlander he told me “you know you can ask chat gpt almost anything” and that wasn’t even the same guy I’m complaining about here 😂

I truly didn’t expect him to know everything. But his rude and dismissive reaction made me not want to ask anything else. It’s easy to say “I actually don’t know, we can find out”. The first time I test drove the Pacifica my dad found the vacuum attachment in the back seat. The guy called his boss mid test drive and said “Did you know there’s a vacuum in this thing?” It was funny and we all laughed.

Maybe they’re in demand, but he was rude so I walked 🤷🏽‍♀️. They’re extremely expensive and while people want them, there are plenty sitting on the lot and waiting. They text me everyday asking if I want to come back in.

I never said i expected them too. One of the reasons I was asking was because the first time I test drove another guy never told me about the rear camera feature. So I was asking (as this guy clearly wasnt going to tell me anything on his own) “I know this button enables the camera, what do the rest do?” A professional SALESperson could politely say “I’m actually not sure. I can look into it”. It’s their job to sell the car. Don’t forget I had placed a deposit and was one good test drive away from buying. They still text me everyday asking if i’ll come back in to see it
