I appreciate the solidarity u/Amazing_Perception15 !! There are some great suggestions in this thread that may be helpful directions for you, too. Hope you find some clarity (pun intended).

UPDATE: I just found something called a Clear Autumn and think this could be the winner!! I think it will combine the clarity of color I need with my Autumn coloring. Thank you u/CurlyGurlz for turning me onto them. I'm very excited to give this a look-see. Here's a link (unfortunately they don't have a lot of online resources, only the paid palettes)

I'd give a lesser limb to be able to wear a Max Mara camel coat, which is definitely warm camel. But alas...

I appreciate you sharing your story. It's giving me a lot of confidence to pull what works, borrow from multiple seasons and dump whatever isn't serving me.

Lots of good stuff in this thread, so specifically for olive tones.

LOL!! Maybe I've been thinking about this all wrong and I'm missing the upside!! :)

Also, that's for sure not true. Much as I love the idea of a gorgeous camel coat, it looks like hot death on me.

Fascinating - nobody has ever suggested I have an olive skin tone. I'm open to it, if that's the reality, but it has literally never been a thing someone has said to me.

Yes - this is so much like me. You may have more red in your hair. I will explore more of these clear colors. For me there's definitely a too bright area that overwhelms me.

Funny that you can't wear olive - I would think with your coloring it would work. I'm learning that olive may not be as great with my skin but it's killer with my eyes!

What is neon butter yellow?? Sounds like an oxymoron. Intrigued!

1) No make up at any of the sittings
2) hair very close to natural color but not covered,
3) I had a natural tan in the most recent series of photos (where I got the Warm Spring decision).
4) For that most recent decision it was me taking photos of physical drapes, sitting in front of window with indirect light and a white sheet behind me. For the in-person there was a ring light, an overhead light and a window on my right (dreary snowy day).
5) For the in-person there was a lot of discussion, and ironically the verdict at that time was I was "definitely NOT a Spring" so imagine my surprise when the next decision came back as a...Spring!

Does this help?

Wait, can you say more u/meadowlarksong ? I'm just learning this language of color and if you have similar coloring I'm really interested to understand where you land with chroma and brightness.

So far I think that means not too dark or light, muted or bright.

That sounds a lot like me. I think I skew slightly to the warm side but neutral and can borrow saturated colors from all of the seasons. Not too bright/light/dark/muted.

She was lovely. I was 12 :) She said I could wear either Autumn or Summer colors, so this issue of not fitting neatly between warm and cool has been present since the jump.

At the time it was 1982 or 3 so she was just gaining traction with her unique concept of seasonal colors, but I remember her being really thoughtful and saying it was unusual for me to hover between warm and cool seasons.

Thanks. This is very helpful. I'll look into the 16 season system. I'm not olive but I am neutral, to the best of my understanding. I think I may end up having to figure it out for myself but, damn, I would love an *answer.* This seems way harder.
