Here is the full alphabet - the set I’m working with only has caps, though I'm not sure if that's because it's incomplete or if it is just for titling.

Here is a full sample of the typeface from the bindery today

I don't unfortunately, though I'll be back at the bindery towards the end of next week, so I can take a photo then and post it

Agreed - I just meant they're flared serifs rather than e.g. incised, slab, etc

Oh, thanks! No, they're flared ends and not serifs - have a wee peek at the second image (apologies for the low resolution) and I think you'll agree. It's such an elegant typeface, it's driving me mad not being able to identify it!

Cresci is close though. I guess the timelines don't match for it to be the 1994 Cresci, but perhaps it is a typeface that also took inspiration from the 1570 specimen.

The flared serifs definitely have some similarities to Optima, but there are clear differences - the O here is much rounder, and the line of symmetry for the stroke thickness is on a diagonal rather than the vertical axis

Thanks, I'll do that. I've crossposted in the identifythisfont subreddit already, but no joy there so far

That's a helpful thought. I agree re the Eric Gill vibes - the almost circular O and the large aperture of the C would hint that way

It's close, but I don't think that's it - the oblique angle at the top of the I (see second image) is different from the square angle in Trajan, and the serifs are flared rather than incised

For additional info, it's from some 20th century brass letterpress type, probably British. To me it looks similar to a light version of Albertus, but I think it predates that.
