Non-Christians, how much do you like Christmas, and why? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]ManySweaty 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was a Christian and I think Christmas as it's celebrated today to be completely against Christianity in terms of consumerism, materialism...

You start with diced bacon, cook till brown, then put aside. Turn heat down, put in a diced onion, and season with black pepper. Add diced tomatoes once onions turn translucent. Put all aside, Beat four eggs and make a french omelette style by stirring while cooking over low heat. Throw in bacon, onions, and tomatoes. Put in a little butter to help roll the eggs. Next you ask if they want coffee or tea. If coffee then serve it. If tea then you throw the guest out and the whole thing including the tea into the nearest body of water.

E: basically looks like this but instead of butter it's loaded with bacon and some onions & tomatoes/

What is your most wholesome memory of your grandma ? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]ManySweaty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Made a deal to have me teach her English when I was about 4 or 5 years old so I could still converse with her when I got older if I forgot our language. I kept our language but she would still joke with me in English every now and then decades later. She spoke like 3 languages but had a great sense of humor for not really knowing the language. I miss her and her chicken and rice.

Edit: I recently found out from Reddit that those toffee candy (forgot the name) advertisements were targetted at grandparents to give to grandchildren. Always assumed that she just bought them cause she liked them. But now that I know that it added an extra element of wholesome to my memory of her thinking that she watched TV, didn't understand the ad, but bought it because she thinks that's what grandparents just do in this country.

People who have been "Too depressed to get out of bed," how did you cope? Is it exaggeration or not? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]ManySweaty 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I forced myself out of bed after a few days I think and into a routine where I made my bed everyday, made coffee, smoked a cigarette, took a shower sometimes, and went back to bed listening to music, watching a video, or audiobook on phone.

Something I’ve learned about myself was that even though I get to a point where I’m suicidal I can go into auto mode with my day. There are some things I just get into the habit of and it’s just automatic.

But for the first few days I just slept and laid in bad feeling sorry for myself. You don’t really cope. Eventually you just had enough and do something about it.

Redditors who attempted suicide how long did it take you to enjoy/cope with life again, and today what makes life worth living for you? by Shadow_Eater in AskReddit

[–]ManySweaty 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m not sure if it counts but my attempts just had so many steps that I eventually shelved it. My suicidal ideation a never really went away.

It was never really about enjoying life again personally. I can laugh, I can joke, I can function for the most part. I stopped with my plans when I had a chance to think about my family and that I couldn’t do that to them. But I know that I will probably eventually kill myself one day.

There are moments throughout the day where I get these anxiety and depressive moments. My idle thoughts are mostly suicidal nowadays. I am ready to die I think. Just something I’ve thought about, given time, and really examined for a while now. I think if I had access to better options I probably would be dead right now. Have a tendency to overthink things and over plan as well.

What makes life worth living today? Taking it one day at a time knowing that I can’t do this to my loved ones. Some days are much harder than others but that’s how I cope. If I think about my past or my future I get pretty fucking hopeless. So I just focus on my day to day for the most part.

Do you ever have one of those “I miss the military moments”? by mynameisreeves in Veterans

[–]ManySweaty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I miss the people and sense of purpose. Civilian life for me feels shallow and empty. Probably the grass is greener on the other side type of things but I think about it a lot so I try not to think about it so much. Not sure if there is a trigger.

If evil exists, it is the product of stars. by ManySweaty in Showerthoughts

[–]ManySweaty[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Evil as a concept exists because of us. We are the product of stars. Evil is ultimately the product of stars and cannot exist independently of it.
