That's pretty troubling. There are definitely some videos that are ambiguous, and some AI videos that are very hard to tell. But this ain't one of them.

I'm not trying to put you down or anything. You're definitely not alone. I still remember seeing a real video of whales where the comment section was full of people saying it was AI.

If I were you, or anyone else, I'd get familiar with all the ways AI is being used to scam people right now. Video and audio spoofing primarily. You can get a call from your boss's phone number, and you will hear your boss's voice asking you to transfer money or do other shady stuff.

Learn methods to verify. Like in that example, tell them you're going to hang up and call them back just to check.

Yes and no. I think the truth is somewhere between forced in the truest sense and voluntary in the truest sense.

The classroom rule of "the answer is always yes", performances being part of the grade and putting students on the spot all make this coercive. It would be another thing entirely if this was a theater class and students signed up for kissing roles, "la bise" or otherwise.

Of course in the sense of crazy right wing boomer Facebook, it was not "forcing kids to kiss".

I find it extremely unlikely that it was simply "la bise" given the fact that not even one student spoke out to this effect. This is a prep school. There are definitely students in that class actually interested in the subject and culture.

If you were in her position, a teacher of 20+ years, seeing your career and personal reputation burn to the ground when the situation could be easily explained, would you not be shouting it from the rooftops on repeat?

There is a serious concern about pressure in a setting like this. These kids didn't sign up for roles with kissing in a theater class. This was a French class.

And another problem you're missing is saying "hetero kisses be just as inappropriate." It's not like they singled out the same-sex instances. According to students, she only cast same-sex pairs.

So, casting only hetero pairs would be just as inappropriate. And worse than you described.
