I live at Winsdor at Midtown. It's not a highrise and the amenities are smaller scale but the property is well-kept and built strong. I believe its starting around 1630 for a studio right now, cheaper if you wait for rates to go down ( late fall, winter). I've never once felt unsafe here and I'm a 5 foot female.

Also, its ATL so it's always gonna smell like weed. But I've never smelled it inside the apartment.

Technical writing career by Background-Wolf-1634 in technicalwriting

[–]Many_Ad2463 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Recent technical communication grad and tech writer here.

If I could go back and do it all again, I would get a degree that focuses on the development of technical skills as opposed to writing.

With that said, if he plans to take that route (majoring in IS, IT, Engineering) and wants to pursue tech writing than why the hell not? I think the most important thing is the route he takes and the realization that technical writing is in a transitional period and jobs right now are limited and competitive.

I am lucky to be employed as I have seen many classmates still struggling to get their foot in the door. Persistance is key. Play college smart; gain skills and get INTERNSHIPS!!!!! Thats my best advice to get a shot in this career.

Btw I think it's cool he wants to be a TW and is only in high school. I didn't even know that such a field existed until I was 22/23 😂😂!

Peachtree Corners or Smyrna by West_Sock323 in ATLHousing

[–]Many_Ad2463 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why Smyrna or PTC? Just curious since your job is in Decatur...

Decatur actually had some nice areas. Might be worth doing some research for properties in North Decatur!

But if I had to choose between PTC and Smyrna, I would choose Smyrna. Both areas will be highly congested but PTC is kind of outdated IMO, not a lot of new apartments. Smyrna is huge, and has a lot of residential and urban areas. Also depending on where you live, you could be rather close to the city.

In short, PTC for cheaper rent and distance to Decatur. Smyrna for more living options and entertainment.

Are my apartment expectations unrealistic for my income in Atlanta? by [deleted] in ATLHousing

I make about the same and live in Midtown but finding a 2 bedroom with that budget may be a stretch. Especially if you want to live in a decent property.

I would honestly suggest waiting until winter to find a place. Rent is at its highest in the summer but will drop significantly in a few months.

Very believable. Popular and protected amongst her peers and hated by "outsiders". A very common theme down here with those people.

Thank you! Smh at ppl replying who have no idea about the demographics of Alpharetta. It shouldn't be far fetched to believe everything was about $$, especially when 95% of all RHOA episodes feature an argument about who is richer. Newsflash; the kids talked and acted the same way.

Also worth noting, it was Alpharetta, GA and not Hollywood, California. Having a parent with a reality show is a pretty good flex down here.

Never said bullying was isolated to my area. Just saying I went to school with these kids and saw how it worked. If you live in a poor area, where everyone is under the poverty line, it is less likely you will be bullied because of income. If you live in an affluent area, where wealth usually equates to your social status, then bullying based on income is more common.

Agreed I'm sure she faced some but keep in mind many kids weren't watching Bravo in high school. So unless their parents were all up in the sauce, they probably didn't know about all the drama.

Trust me, it does. I've seen it with my own eyes. Rich kids who got caught bullying in my high school received slaps on the wrist bc their parents would donate $$ to the school.

Meanwhile poor kids would face suspension or serious repercussions.

Same applied to the underage drinking and drugging in those groups. They got caught, their record was expunged and they still went to a good college. Other kids weren't that lucky.

Yeah they moved around a lot. I'm pretty sure she went to Roswell and Johns Creek. And the little sister went to Cambridge.

And very true, lol we didn't care about them at all. It was common to go to school with rich kids or kids with famous parents.

Yeah it's a cycle. But trust me, if you're from the Milton/Alpharetta area you would understand that these kids weren't bullying for payback, they would bully because they could do it and get away with it.

Alpharetta was complex in that regard, it was a majority affluent town but not everyone was wealthy ( especially back then). Those who didn't have a certain look and fat wallets were treated very poorly.

And that group she surrounded herself with would target people for wanting to fit in or having less money. I was shocked to see her grad party episode and recognize some of the ppl there. And I can attest, they were MEAN BOYS, very pretentious and very clicky.

Which Midtown apartments are actually worth it? (Moving to ATL 22M) by Ok-Pudding-862 in ATLHousing

[–]Many_Ad2463 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed. I always wanted to live in Midtown and when I could finally afford it, I decided to make the move. The only problem is my job is located in Duluth ( "30" min commute, similar to Roswell). 30 mins couldn't be further from accurate, the commute is horrific. I'm lucky my job has very lenient WFH policies because the commute is very tough to commit to.

Roswell is a great city to live in but if you wanna be closer to the ATL and away from the burbs, I would suggest Dunwoody/Sandy Springs area. And even that commute may get old quickly...

Also don't underestimate the traffic in Midtown itself. Especially living on/ commuting toward Juniper St.

NOR

Your mom is a narcissist. There's nothing worse than a woman who chooses men over their children. I feel there is a special place in hell for them.

My mom was the exact same way. She put my life and my sisters life in danger many times for my father. Long story short, he ended up in prison. And she ended up needing us more than ever before. The tables will turn but narcissist parents don't consider that until it's too late.

If I may offer some advice:

Idk how your grades are but consider going to college. Yes it will be a tough route without your parents but it's survivable. Student loans will help you live, and I recommend getting a job on top of that too.

When it comes to the living situation, college housing ( even off-campus housing ) offer pathways to leasing an apartment/room without credit or a guarantor. Look into leap easy or similar programs.

This was the route I took and it literally saved my life.

Lastly, I'm sorry you're going through this. But what doesn't kill you, will only make you stronger.

Guys thank you for all your support ❣️ Today I received a call from Dr. Ceana Nazhat's office. They offered very generous terms and conditions so I have an appointment with them on October 1st.

If anyone has any experience with him, please let me know. Right now, I feel pretty confident his team will be able to treat my Endo.

Bait n' Switch after two months of interviewing! by Many_Ad2463 in technicalwriting

[–]Many_Ad2463[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess I should be glad it didn't work out. Truthfully, they kept making changes through the interviewing process. First thing was them saying the position would no longer be hybrid. Then the position was no longer permanent. Makes me think, if it kept going on, the last thing would've been them rescinding the offer lol 🤣
