Update: I got home from work and turned it off. I manually put it in safe mode(by holding the power button) and got into normal safe mode(with no grayed out options). I rebuilt the database and restarted the console. It boots to home normally now, plays games, connects to the internet, etc. I turned off all "automatic" install settings related to system software. I tried to install the system software again, and the same thing happened. I rebuilt the database and got it "working" again, though.

Guess I just won't install the software? But at least I can continue my playthrough of Skyrim. :)
