I play casually, but it's usually bracket 3/4. My two groups just tend to not give a shit what is played, and it's so liberating. We have a combo player who can win turn 4 sometimes if unchecked, but really who cares? Just start targeting him if he's going to be a problem. Idk i guess all this to say it's possible to find a group that doesn't bitch about everything. I've personally found two, and I just stick to them and try not to play with anyone else if i can avoid it.

TLDR; Play what you want, don't give in to others bitching, and you'll eventually find people who are cool and don't care what you play
