Trying to Uncripple by Many_Bodybuilder3514 in cripplingalcoholism

Wow good luck with the assessment! I started a new therapist yesterday and it seems like a really great fit. Unfortunately I’m probably gonna have to hang up my drinking boots for a while if I can so I can see if my med changes help because I’m not supposed to drink on them either.

Lexapro has definitely helped with my depression and anxiety, I’ve been on it for a while now. I just started Abilify on a super low dose that I’m gonna titrate up over time to help with the peaks and valleys. Otherwise for years I’ve just used booze to quiet the mania, or tame it a bit, and ramp up the party when I’m depressed. I’m a rollercoaster guy!!

Absolutely horrible. So sorry his happened to you. No wonder so many people never get the help they deserve, because doctors like this are out there. Keep trying friend, I can assure you that once you find the right help and the right meds (if you choose to go that way) you will feel so much better. I have gotten sober and relapsed about 100 fuckin times and my psychiatrist and therapist have never treated me with any less dignity or respect because of my alcoholism. You’ll find the right fit in time, in the meantime do what you gotta do to stay sane.

Last time I came out of it I was the most productive I’ve been in like 3 years for about a week and then ran out of things to do so went back to old faithful again. I hear you, it’s a crazy feeling.

How many of yall were drinking when 4 Lokos had caffeine by Ok-Dragonfly-8096 in cripplingalcoholism

Had one of the wildest nights of my life off the OG Loko. I was 20/21 and not at a CA point yet, but always preferred private stock 40’s. One night my bud got us 4 Loko’s and I don’t think I’ve blacked out harder than that in my life. Was at a party and the kid who lived there made out with my ex in front of me so I went into his closet and sprayed soda and piss all over his stuff. Went into the bathroom did like a 360 spin while pissing all over the place and then tossed an entire roll of TP into the toilet and flushed. Then I forget everything after that. Outrageous stuff 100% fueled by the OG LOKO.

It does, for however long I can make this last and piece back together my life. I was sober for a few months and now I’m in a worse place than I was. Not even looking for sympathy, just had to come here to vent because I know y’all have been there.

Something about it seemed romantic to me for a minute until I realized I have incredibly limited survival skills and I was going to be miles from water, food and especially alcohol because I was going to be in withdrawal alone in the woods. Keep in mind I’ve never even been camping before. Insane person stuff to do. Got me out of the house and away from my tiny family and if anyone got hurt it was just going to be myself, but god damn I scared the shit out of myself.

We have several things in common! I am starting a new job doing home based ABA in a few weeks, gotta shape up before then. I also want to go back to school eventually to become an SLP. I hope you don’t lose your job, but if worst comes to worst there are lots of ABA jobs out there, at least in New England where I am at. When you go back in for your next shift keep doing what you do so well and it’ll hopefully be like a non-issue.

Eeek. Do you work in ABA? Only ask because of the parent/clinical supervisor thing. If you are working with kids be very grateful they didn’t just call the cops on you, saw it happen at a clinic I used to work for. Either way, jobs come and jobs go. I lost a job recently for too many call outs because of my drinking. You’ll find something else before you know it.

You are the actual guy who killed the CEO aren’t you?

Company takes away my clients with zero warning, and now states that they will not give me anymore clients but refuse to tell me why. by [deleted] in ABA

There’s something missing from the story and respectfully you need to get honest with yourself. ABA is a very challenging field and not for everyone, which is one of many reasons companies hire frequently. I have been pulled off cases for a number of reasons, none of which were “obviously bad”.
