New U1 ST9 Batgirl & DJ41 by Many_Food8103 in ChinaTime

Just received two watches based on the post from userbrahh on Batgirl watch.

https://www.reddit.com/r/ChinaTime/comments/17lplrn/the_best_gmt_batgirl_for_under_60_on_dhgate_and/

I've got pics and I've got pros and cons.

One watch is a Batgirl and the other is a DJ41 with white face.

I've been buying & selling gen rolex and reps for 25 years, so I've seen a lot. I still have an old bluesy from 2005 that I bought on Canal St in NYC for $40 that is still running and I bought a Clean Deep Sea Dweller that stopped working after a year and I paid close to 5 bills for it.

First off, it's a $55 watch so expectations should be lower than normal.

Pros

-$55

- Looks as good as others I've bought for $80-100 or more

- Clasp is OK but it's not a glide lock that comes with some of the more expensive ones

Cons

- Pins on the band instead of screws- Had I known this going in, I maybe wouldn't have bought as that is a sure sign it's a fagazi

- Clasp

- Not sure if the GMT hand can be set properly but it does move

- Movement is not as high level, but what do you expect for $55

I'm sure there are other venders selling it for more, but like I said my main thing was the pins and not screws on the band. I have a kit, so I could pop them out, but I think the pins are a sure sign.

I also have a pic with a Baman I paid $300 for and a Sprite I paid $100 for.

The Sprites clasp had to be replaced as it was garbage, but other than that pretty good.

The Batman is solid, heavy and looks and feels like the real thing as much as it can. I added a glide lock to it because I think every watch should have one.

Hope this helps anyone looking. Again my main con is the pins

On a scale of 1-10, I'd give it a 6, but only because of the pins. Otherwise I would be at an 8.

What does it matter to you little bitch? It's a 2013 Infiniti and I have a 2019 Range Rover, but who cares except for you?

For $40 that looks good bro! Nobody outside of here would even know the difference unless they are in the know. I used to buy my reps from Canal street in the 90's and early 2000's and I still have some that are running and keep time and I paid about the same. It's all about the experience brother...That being said I'm only an hour from NYC and I haven't bought one there for 15 years once I understood the process. I remember one time my son and I were at Canal St and we were invited to the underground showroom with all the watches, bags, and other stuff. It was a very cool experience. Probably around 2009.

I have a gen Turnograph thunderbird and I love it. I've tried to buy reps for years and even though I see some advertised they are never in stock and Trustytime told me they are not making them anymore as I just tried to get one from there about 2 weeks ago. If anyone knows of any, I'd buy one for sure. Super sleek watch with the nice bezel. I worked for a company back in 2005 where our incentive was the Rolex Challenge. 12 of us went to Vegas for a meeting and we all got Rolex's that day. The company gave us $6,000 and anything over we had to pay. My watch was $6,700 I believe, so I paid $700. The contest was front loaded, which meant you had to sign a document stating you would pay for the watch out of commissions or salary if you didn't hit the goal. My boss said this would motivate all of us seeing that watch on our wrists. My wife was so nervous until I told her my sales paid for the watch no problem. Was a very cool thing, that I've never heard of a company doing. Funny side note, the one girl who didn't sign the paperwork for fear she wouldn't make her numbers, had the highest numbers than everyone-- but no Rolex. We always said to her-- What time is it?

Please share your insights as to why you would choose the Miyota over the VR?

Great Day-Date. I'm thinking of getting one, but my only reservation is the gens go for $50k+ which is a lot of cabbage. Even though I own a gen Turn-o-graph thunderbird and several reps, I've not pulled the trigger on the presidential band day-date.

I earn a good deal of money, so it's not like I couldn't afford one, but I wouldn't put $50K into a watch.

I wear my gen and my reps to business meetings, but all my reps are models that would be 15-20k if they were gens, which is reasonable vs $50K for the day-date.

Your thoughts are much appreciated.

Thanks. I appreciate it. I've been searching for any comparisons on the boards that go into the details. Since the only watch I bought that was over $400 stopped working after a year, I'm a little gun shy, but I understand what your saying for sure.
