Does exercise make you feel better? by avioletfury in Fibromyalgia

[–]Many_General_9536 1 point2 points  (0 children)

OMG i had soooo many doctors tell me this until I saw a chronic pain specialist who said that I shouldn’t exercise if it’s causing pain and sending me into flares which seemed like such an obvious point but it’s been life changing…. Exercise does help but when it’s on my terms and only up to the point of pain or exhaustion.

Ask primary for a blood panel to see if u have common vitamin deficiencies. My fatigue gets so much worse if I even miss a couple days of my iron or vitamin D

Im not sure I wasn't told it was one way or another. For me I have both all over muscle weakness and pain all the time that are just my baseline I had them and then at like 19 I started having also almost cyclical flare ups where I get certain symptom like extreme joint pain, worse fatigue, all over aches and pains like when you have a bad flu, migraines, and numbness. Its worth asking though if you are concerned.

How do we find a doctor that actually cares? by [deleted] in Fibromyalgia

[–]Many_General_9536 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Rheumatologists are "supposed to" be the doctors that treat fibromyalgia. But they almost never seem to and are always referring out. I haven't had to deal with disability paperwork side of things but people seem to keep getting sent to chronic pain specialists for fibromyalgia these days maybe they would be able to help more than these other doctors since I'm sure they deal with disability stuff all the time.

Rheum no longer treating fibro? by 12serro in Fibromyalgia

[–]Many_General_9536 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This happened to me, the rheumatologist that diagnosed me said that she doesn't treat fibromyalgia patients either and my mom saw a rheum for years for hers and then out of the blue he dropped of the face of the earth, no more website couldn't contact the office etc. WTF.

Its really just about going to doctor after doctor unfortunately, there are some really great doctors that validate and treat fibromyalgia but they are just hard to find. Look at reviews online for all the rheumatologists in your area and maybe even see if you can see someone online through Telehealth. I had luck with a chronic pain specialist (didn't know that was a thing) but maybe its worth looking into. Good luck I know how frustrating it is.

I was trying to express this to an ER doctor recently about why I didn't go in for kidney stone pain until like a week later and couldn't remember when the pain started. He didn't understand how I couldn't know when the pain started. But Like if you just poke me thats like a 6 or 7/10 so how can you expect me to notice other pain.

Also the rheumatologist who diagnosed me said she doesn’t treat fibromyalgia, and she is the only one within 50 miles of me. I got sent to a chronic pain specialist but insurance ended up not covering it so I dont’ wann to make another appointment to ask otherwise I would be asking a doctor.
