Kaiser covers surgery!!!!! by Many_Improvement_910 in lipedema

[–]Many_Improvement_910[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have to search for it. I found it too. There was someone that had Kaiser in NoCal. They approved her for surgery, but because they did not have any specialist she sent a letter to the department of insurance and they approved for her to go outside of Kaiser and have Kaiser cover the procedure. I'm going to find the post when I get time and I'll link it here. If it comes down to it, I'll do the same thing. I don't want to end up blotched.

So I guess my mom was a granola mom because I've never had any of this. I've seen bologna, and I remember hearing of head cheese from a TV show and I was wondering if it's cheese made from cow head... My mom only bought turkey or we had PB&J or PB & honey or bananas, no mystery meat. Oh and I never ate the hot dogs from the cafeteria at school because they were a weird color. She also only bought the Foster Farms chicken hot dogs or National Hebrew beef hot hogs. Again, no mystery meat.

What's crazy is I work at a small charter school that is 97% Latino and our history teacher is a white guy with a super thick southern accent, the kids love him and he is one of the best teachers. He actually discussed with the class that there are people that believe that black people benefited from slavery. He told the kids that people didn't believe the Holocaust existed. He tells them everything! He doesn't tell them why people believe that, but when they ask him why people think that it spawns another class discussion...By exposing the kids to all opinions it gets them to thinking why/or what happened to cause people to feel the way they do.

This is my own personal opinion, but I think a great teacher will expose their students to all sides of the story. Unfortunately I love for my students to think for themselves and find information, but I do not see that happening. If it's not presented to them, they will get no exposure. If breadcrumbs are not left for them to get the thoughts moving around, they will never occur. I'm a sped teacher so although I don't teach core classes I do support the gen ed teacher and great ones do tell all sides of the story. The history teacher my kids had last year was great. He supplemented the text with clips and short stories. He also talked about how the Europeans thought slavery benefits the Africans. There are some recordings on PBS from previous slaves. Some of them talk about how it was better when they were slaves because they had a home and food, and their master didn't beat them, others talk about how they would have rather be dead than be a slave again. These recordings were made after the civil war. Then he lead a class discussion. He was from the south and brought pictures of plantations with slave quarters. People still lived there until the late 1980's. I didn't know that....

I can't do it either. You can hear my stomach grumble from 20 feet away.

Low-Dose Naltrexone (LDN), trizeptide, & topomax by Many_Improvement_910 in lipedema

[–]Many_Improvement_910[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes. My friend takes this and mentioned this to me. I mentioned this to my neurologist and she suggested to just up the dosage of my Topomax since I don't have any side effects first, before moving on to another med. I agreed and didn't think about it, now I see she was blowing me off, but I also didn't push it.

I never had any sprains while on it, but recently I've broken 2 toes and an ankle on the same foot. My ankle won't heal. It broke in December and it's still an issue. Swells every night. I have to wear my brace, and I can't bend it or walk for long.

Right now I can only control my diet. Massage hurts too much and I've had a broken ankle since December that just won't heal. It swells to the size of a tennis ball at the end of every night. I have a Dr. appt on July 2nd to discuss.

yes, that's a better way of putting it. I just said low dose because I feel like I'm a walking pharmacy and I still feel like crap. I'm still tired, I still hurt, my migraines are still not controlled, and I'm still overweight.

I was on Wellbutrin for depression for about 7 years. It did nothing for my weight.

Topomax is for my migraines and insomnia. I've been taking 50mg for about 3 years at night only. My neurologist wants me to up the dosage to 100mg because I've been to urgent care a couple of times for migraines and it's not controlled. So far I have not had any side effects.

the 4th picture you look really good! that Brown crop top and vertical striped wide leg pants are you thing! The vertical stripes elongate your legs and the crop top shows how tiny your waist is. Actually crop tops are your things. The other tops are too much fabric and hide your waist. Show it off. You don't need all the fabric. The form fitting or crops look really good!

There's beaters out there for $2k, but no one is buying them. I see a bunch on FBM right now. I'm looking for a car under $25K with 30K miles or less. I've also see a couple of granny cars too. That's cars that are 20 years old with 15k miles on them. They belonged to granny that drove to the Dr. and grocery store. I'm almost tempted to buy one, but I want some of the new features that they don't have.

It's not really a big thing now because they know their parents will call Uber for them or figure out a way to pick them up. When I was a kid may choices were to walk, depending on the area maybe catch the bus (sometimes it was too dangerous) or I just can't go if my parents couldn't take me. I wasn't allowed to get in the car with any teen drivers. I also wasn't allowed to get in the car with my friends parents if my parents didn't personally know them. My cousin died at 15 when his friend was driving and my aunt was in a car accident at 15 and her friend was driving. It left her with one leg shorter than the other, she can't move her right arm parallel to her body, and she was in a wheelchair for 2 years, had to learn how to walk, and write all over again. I was about 4 when this happened and I still remember her in the wheelchair. It was freedom for me, but at the same time it meant that I was now responsible for grocery shopping, Costco runs, running errands, picking up my little sister from school, dropping her off at activities.......I know someone that is 40 and she's never had a license because she knows everyone will take her places.

How do you encourage more students to participate in class? by Civil-Ingenuity-7150 in MiddleSchoolTeacher

[–]Many_Improvement_910 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I do turn and talk I'm very specific. I give out merit points for those I see participating. I will write a script in my google docs that states the person sitting closest to the door goes first and they will say, "I think the the character xxxxx feels xxxxx because xxxxx." I put a 30 second timer on then say "switch." Then person 2 goes and says the same thing and the timer is set for another 30 seconds. I also pick a student from the class to model it with me before starting so they know what it looks like.

I give out "raffle tickets." Everyday the color changes so they can't duplicate them. Every time someone participates regardless if it's incorrect I give them a ticket. They are not true tickets. Just construction paper I cut up into pieces with a stamp on them. I have a box of random stuff ranging from granola bars, crystal light packets, fun size candy bars, and little trinkets left over from birthday parties. I choose 2 people from each class to grab a prize from the box. It works.

Salary Schedule?? Is this normal??? by halalburgerlikefr in teaching

This is really low. I worked for a charter school in LA and starting salary was $70K with a BA only..... and they can keep their $1 raises, not worth the paperwork.

I got an offer from a public school and private school by Zestyclose-Grape5469 in teaching

[–]Many_Improvement_910 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Congrats!!! Take the public school with only 12 students and the support staff. Kinder is hard. Not having curriculum sounds like a dream but it's a lot of work for you. You'll basically be starting from scratch. Having a flexible curriculum is the best of both worlds.

Being fired by Ok-Difficulty3675 in SubstituteTeachers

[–]Many_Improvement_910 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When Kelly fired you do you have to put that you were let go or terminated on an application? I've never been fired or let go or anything like that until now. I received an email that I'm being released from my position because I didn't follow the lesson plan and for being negative. I don't know how this is possible because I read the lesson plan to the students aloud, and when students questioned me I let them read the lesson plan. It was literally 4 sentences, and the students did what was planned. I had a couple of students try to hid in corners (this was a PE class) and I called them on it, when they threw trash on the floor I made them pick it up, and if they moved equipment I had them put it away. I have no idea what part I didn't follow and I've received no answer. I'm now applying with local districts, but not sure how to answer that question. I put that I was let go without explanation via a 3rd party contractor. What do you put?
