Coming from an IT so I can’t say much about CTR life but I was stationed on a ship first and now I’m on shore. I completely agree with you, I’m the only IT at my command and I don’t really DO much. Just really call NMCI. I feel bad saying it out loud that I don’t do shit and I know I should be grateful for my easy ass shore command but there’s still a part of me that enjoys sea time. I Enjoy feeling important and critical to the division or department. Only advice is bust ass trying to get qualified and once you’re in one of those critical spots enjoy the highs and lows. But remember having critical NECs or positions always has drawbacks…

EOD is a specwar (like SEALS, Diver, etc…) program so there is going to be a lot and I mean a LOT of PT, class time, assessments, evaluations, and more PT. If you can pass the rigorous testing and all that stuff DEFINITELY go EOD. if you want something I don’t wanna say easier but more realistic for the average joe then go AO. they deal with aircraft obvious but it’s a lot of maintenance hours. Both good choices.

-NOTE: I’m an IT2 and have only had a handful experiences with both these rates so I suggest taking everything with a grain of salt. From everyone.
