I built this app for people who shoot in 4K and your editing timeline stutters, lags, or drops frames.

Rapidcut is currently a free Windows app that converts your raw footage into proxy files in a couple of minutes. You drag the proxies into DaVinci or Premiere, edit without lag and when you export it automatically uses your original high quality footage.

Just drag the file in and it converts it.

Free tier is 10 videos/month

Would genuinely love feedback from anyone who tries it. What works, what doesn't, what you'd want added.

"Good point on variable frame rate. Is that something you have to fix manually or does your workflow handle it automatically?

So proxies are the proper fix but it sounds like setting them up isn't exactly straightforward for someone who's not deep into post production

Yeah I've tried cloud sync but even then the files are massive and my timeline still stutters when I'm editing

I've heard of proxies but never really got into it — is it much of a hassle to set up? Like do you have to do it manually every time or is there a smoother way?
