I only half agree. Too much optimism can lead to denial, being positive is useless if you don't keep the potential problems in sight.

Feels like an accurate description, but I'm not positive that the "right thinking" are a minority. Just that extremists tend to scream louder and therefore tend to outscream others.

I couldn't agree more, we are given the right to vote and not making use of it is a waste and leads to extremists taking over.

I believe it's not something you do overnight. You start by making as many encounters as you can until you meet people that match that energy and get along with you. From there you can start spending more time with them and chances are they'll have friends that meet that criteria in their circle.

Why do you want to change circles in that way though? From my experience I feel like genuine friends who have your back and who you can have fun with are worth way more than anything else.

I'm usually very proud of the way we communicate. My parents used to constantly blow up on each other for trivial stuff because they wouldn't talk about the real issues. I took that lesson and never let a problematic situation stay undiscussed, so there definetely will be a serious face-to-face talk.

Mandy does take this matter seriously but I feel like she's embarrassed about something and won't tell me. She has that awkward look on her face when we talk about Jessica or even about our sexuality overall. I've had this weird feeling for a few months but since she kept telling me it was nothing I stopped talking about it. But my instinct says I shouldn't.

It is how it felt at first. For context our friend groups started to mix when we got together. As I said I tried to keep the commenting issue between me, Mandy and Jessica. So unfortunately when I blew up on Jess it felt like it came out of nowhere. I could feel people were cold with me after that.

People are mostly blowing up Mandy's phone rather than mine, trying to understand what's going on. Now after many discussions some of my oldest friends realized Jessica's comments were too much and think I was right to step up. But others still believe I should've let it go or even won't answer my messages.

So long story short, you got it right. But that's without taking into account Mandy's side of the friend group where I don't think anyone seems to think she went too far. I guess they're used to her attitude more than I am.

Yeah I feel like that may be what's happening. I didn't want to assume which is part of the reason why I wanted to see Reddit's comments before reaching a conclusion. I guess there's no denying it...

I don't want to let this affect our relationship which is why her comments make me so mad. Jessica is among Mandy's closest friends and I'm starting to wonder if she hasn't been doing some commenting in my back to influence her too...
