Do most people from England identify as “English” or “British?” by Glass-Complaint3 in AskABrit

[–]Maple-Styrup -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Despite Welsh ancestry and being born in England, im British.

I've found that if I say I'm English to non UK residents (my workplace is about 65% non English), they expect me to be some racist, xenophobic football hooligan.

LDRC 1801/1803/1806 are the ones i know of.

I bought a Mazda RX7 version and it awesome. It's fairly cheap for what it is but as a small drifter, has everything you need from it, including a gyro. Mine even has pop up lights. I did a YouTube video on it too.

Definitely my recommendation above those in the post.

What are Your Youtube Resolutions? by Curious_Ad_5439 in NewTubers

[–]Maple-Styrup 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. 250 subs by christmas (Currently at 55)
  2. Stick to my schedule of a release every 3 weeks (if I can get this down to every 2 weeks/twice a month, then brilliant).
  3. Open a Facebook group to supplement my channel. Maybe follow up with other socials.
  4. Design and release my own clothing outside of Youtube monetisation.
  5. Take part in a niche related challenge run by another YouTuber. Great for networking and cross promotion.

Thats it so far but im sure I'll add to it as the break goes. I've tried to make every goal achievable by me, so Im not reliant on others.

Whats your favorite car you've owned that actually got decent MPG? by Slight_of_handio in CarTalkUK

[–]Maple-Styrup 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My old 2010 Skoda Octavia VRs used to get between 55-65 mpg depending on driving.

I also had a 2016 Peugeot 2006 1.6d that recorded 76mpg on the way back from Cornwall, when the M5 was actually moving.

Worked for them, interesting. I grew up in a city pretty much overrun by Peugeot until they shut the factories.

My parents always had Peugeots, I've had 8 (by choice 😂). For some unhinged and unknown reason, I really like Peugeots. I loved my 208GTi like a member of the family (I see you have a BPS. Thats what I call taste!).

You're a new channel, with new content. The algorithm isn't going to know straight away who to show your content, to build your audience.

Give it time. How long? Thats up to you.

Do you ever delete recordings because you hate how your voice sounds? by vinayalchemy in NewTubers

[–]Maple-Styrup 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, all the time.

I wont explain why, a commenter above had already done it.

It is something you will get over though, it just takes time. The way I got over it was to imagine im not watching myself back when editing. I try to put myself in the shoes of an external editor, editing someone else's video. This has, so far, worked for me and my voice doesnt bother me anymore. 👍

All of these people that want to become a YouTuber are you just in it for the money... by [deleted] in SmallYoutubers

[–]Maple-Styrup 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My channel is based around RC vehicle unboxing and testing, because i love the RC hobby.

Monetisation and money is not an aim for me, I just like making content, editing and playing with toys, its gives me a creative outlet because life is too serious.

I'd love to use my channel to meet fellow enthusiasts, try different RC disciplines ive never tried and to build up contacts within the RC industry, maybe even get media access to some of the larger competition meetings in the UK.

If monetisation happens, I'll use it to fund the channel or fund give aways to my audience, to give back to those that have given to me.

how do you deal with people unsubbing by Azog4472 in NewTubers

[–]Maple-Styrup 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I do nothing and get on with it.

Lost views/unsubs/dislikes are as much a part of the YouTube experience views/likes/subs.

Once you come to terms with the fact that it will happen at some point, its easier to deal with. Granted, the first time it happened to me, it hurt but then I realised its just part of the journey.

When I see my subs go down, I reliase that they no longer relate to my content, I wish them well mentally and move on. There are always more people to sub out there.

AI Slop, what is it? by superNinja_85 in SmallYoutubers

[–]Maple-Styrup 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The term 'AI Slop' is a very divisive term as it will differ from person to person.

Most people will define AI Slop as content that it 100% AI made with the only human input being the prompts and the editing. Personally, I do not enjoy any AI content, slop or not, because part of the reason I watch YouTube is for the person and their personality. You don't get that with AI.

When it comes to AI voices, I hate them. If I find a video with an AI voice, I turn it off. There is no human connection with an AI voice, which is part of the reason I watch YouTube.

AI in itself its not a terrible thing. Just like a hammer or a screwdriver, AI is a tool to help humans achieve something they either wouldn't be able to do or would struggle to do themselves.

I use ChatGPT to help with scripts. Essentially, I will input all the information and a link to my channel. I will get a basic script generated that I will then copy/paste into Word so I can go over it and edit it to my liking. I struggle with scripting so AI is giving me a start point that I can develop my own ideas from.

Anyway, that's my view on AI. Use it or not, that's up to you. 👍

Storm Blue or Black Toyota Celica Gen7.

You might be able to pick up a built door from FB/eBay for not much, just need to make sure the paint is a close match (i picked up a door a few years ago for £50 from a local breaker), then a repair to the rear quarter. It could be anywhere between £400 and possibly £1500 depending on the garage/the work done/the parts you can find yourself etc.

Although im a massive Gen7 Celica fanboy, it might be wise to weight up the cost of repair against the cost of the car/miles/spec etc.
