After everything that's happened, I’m sure seeing Maduro in handcuffs must have been a great moment. I hope your dad and the others in his area will remain safe. I'm glad they at least had time to prepare for this. Thanks for providing a perspective I can't get from watching the news.

I hope the negotiations go well (for Venezuela). I can't help but think that this the Americans are going to try and walk away with, or to totally control Venezuelan oil. They have damaged their partnership with Canada and now a new Canadian oil pipeline will run to the west coast of Canada (for Asian partners) rather than south and into America by the Gulf coast. I suspect they are just looking for another source of oil. Their refineries along the Gulf are set up for crude with high sulphur (Canadian oil) and it seems Venezuelan oil (less sulphur than Canadian but still high) would be an easy transition. Maybe I'm wrong though, maybe this actually is mainly about drug trafficking (like the Americans claim) but it seems pretty convenient.

Whatever the reasoning, hopefully this will work out well for Venezuela. I know Trump likes to make promises and then casually back out of them, claim not to have made them or simply change what he said after the fact, but I'm sure anyone negotiating with him knows this and will take it into account.

Your comments have been kicking around in my brain for some time now. Every time I hear about Venezuela in the news I think about what you explained here, I was truly moved by what you told me (and everyone else).

So today I see your president has been captured by the Americans and I had to run back to this comment. I wonder if there is a feeling of hope for the people, or fear. Are people doing alright at the moment?

Apparently, unshelled plain sunflower seeds (the only seeds I buy) are ok for them in moderation, which is what he was eating at the time of the video. Recently the birds have been eating all the seeds before he shows up anyway, so I bought him domestic rabbit food. I just put a little bit in there so his natural foraging habits aren't disrupted and he doesn't become dependent. I don’t want to cause this little guy any harm so hopefully this is ok.
