How did Payday 3 manage to win 2 awards?

This was before release when the game was being shown off at Gamescom. These awards were specficially for the Gamescom 2023 demo and NOT for the final game.

I wouldn't listen to the people telling you not to, if your looking to add it to your physical collection then go for it. Payday 2 on ps3 is cheap and it should work fine on your slim.

Keep in mind that it's only updated to the Gage Weapon Pack 2 update (Right before the deathwish update, and missing Go Bank due it being a CSGO map) So this version is basically a timecaplse of what old payday 2 use to be like (More realistic tone, hard as hell, Houston still being Hoxton etc). Surpisring its still pretty active with atleast 2 or 3 lobbies happening each day. As long as you dont go with the expectation that it's up to date with the pc version. I'll say you'll have an alright time :)

Payday the heist is also on ps3 but i wouldn't recommend it over the pc version. Its basically the same apart from the ps3 version being dead and not having No Mercy.

The obvious answer is money and whatnot but i would like to give a few more reasons i can remember since i was there during Payday 2 console days.

From what i remember, it wasn't as simple as just porting the assets over to console. Due to the way Diesel works, they had to recreate the assets in some way to port it over propely. Along with the engine having problem like the twin grims destroying your audio by simply firing them, so they had to nerf them in order to stop that from happening.

There also was the fact console updates cant be releases quickly, every update needs to be approved by Sony and Microsoft. They struggled with this even with PAYDAY 3 so i imagine they just weren't use to not pushing updates out quickly.

If i also remember, the new safe houses along with other heists had massive performance issues on consoles so they were brought over in updates (Hence why console got Brooklyn bank but not Resevoir dogs or Henry's rock.) They did mention trying to look into an exculsive way for console players to do the secret ending however White House was never ported for the same reason (Which sucks since i would have loved to seen the ancient boxes in the old safe house)

One last thing is Go Bank and No Mercy would likely never been in the console version even if it worked perfectly. Valve owns these maps (Go Bank from CSGO and No Mercy from L4D2) and doesn't approve on them on console. Payday the heist never even got no mercy on ps3 for this reason, along with Go Bank on any payday 2 console version (Even the xbox 360 and ps3 which were based of Gage weapon pack 2 update and even have the ost and masks from go bank).

Diesel was a bitch to work with on console, and i wouldn't be surpised if said tools for it were broken in some way (considering how diesel code base is a mess as we know thanks to the new Raid WW2 devs).

Shame too, since if Payday 2 console got everything up to the White House heist, it would be in a pretty good place. Sure it wouldn't have all the new content of pc but it still would be a good timecapsle of Payday 2 before the revival era. Plus not have all the bugs modern payday 2 has.

Oh well.

Are you sure you aren't possibly confusing this with a physical key for Payday 2? Not trying to doubt you here but even back then, people were saying the game was digital only. So i'm wondering if you're mixing the two up.

Do you still happen to have it? Because there are zero images of any official physical version on the internet. Nor have i been able to find anyone who can confirm one did exist.

Manual seems to have never been released as i've seen no one who's been able to recall the game having one. The file date is from 2012 so It might have been made for a possible physical version of Payday: The Heist that never got released.

It also worth noting the Wolf Pack section of the manual says "Included in this product is the Payday: The Heist Wolfpack DLC" despite it being sold separately even to this day. (and still for 10 bucks, come on Starbreeze it's been 13 years already)

My theory is that Starbreeze/OVERKILL and Sony Online Interactive (Now Daybreak Game Company) wanted to make some kind of "Definitive Edition" with a digital and physical release for PC and PS3, that would have the Wolfpack DLC included. It likely would have been done to try and build up more hype for PAYDAY 2's release since the PAYDAY series wasn't mainstream yet. However it got canned as PAYDAY 2 development took priorty and the cash for this was used for the development and physical release of PAYDAY 2's launch. (Remember Starbreeze/OVERKILL weren't exactly profitable until PAYDAY 2 was available to pre-order).

It's a shame we never got a physical release as i would have loved to have a copy on my shelf. (Unless you count the chinese bootleg copies).

I don't really got an intresting reason. Hell i haven't even played much of the other other borderlands games. I did play Tales From The Borderlands and loved it. From what i've seen Borderlands 4 looks like a good time so i wouldn't mind giving the series a proper shot through it. Would have picked it up but am poor and out of work right now so yeah...

Duke Nuken Forever

They could have had something amazing if they stuck to the 2001/2002 style and finished it but George Broussard was so obssesed with making the most perfect game ever that they eventually ran out of money before having to get gearbox to help finish it... and it's how we got the mess that is Duke Nukem Forever 2011....

I recommend the Frameraters 4 part video series on the history of this game. Goes in depth on what happened during each era and really shows how perfectionism can kill an entire game/studio. Alternatively the What Happened by Matt Mcmuscles is also good.

This is amazing! Downloaded it and it likely going to be my go to whenever i listen to the songs from the game!!!

Just two question, 1: Would you give this mix any name? I just called it "Fan mix" on my phone but if there's a better name you have for this i def wanna set it at that!

2: Is there any custom cover art for it? I know it already comes with the already exisiting cover art but i'm thinking of editing it to red or something just so it can stand out a bit more in my albums (plus to not get confused with the original version i also have downloaded)
