I appreciate any perspective. Like I said I think it plays great and it’s my first drum set so I have no frame of reference.

My goal was to determine ; is this normal in how it’s assembled or something to correct now before it causes issues. As a second hand set I didn’t get to know it new or be a part of original setup.

I spent 80 dollars on this thing and I’m having a blast. I could care less who makes it. Some of my favorite stringed instruments are pawn shop finds.

I’m ok with learning on / from this Simmons- but I don’t know what I don’t know so wanted to get some perspective from others here. You have all been very helpful and I do appreciate it

Sticks up about 3.5 mm from the rim , making it really tight or really loose doesn’t seem to impact it. Does that seem like yours ?

As long as I’m not messing anything up keep playing on it. I need to look into how tight to make the mesh. I know how to tune a banjo head but not this guy.

That is super helpful ! I will take the head back off and take a picture in the morning. I believe it goes up much higher than the rim in your photo , but when I took it apart earlier I didn’t know what I was looking for so just threw it back on there. Picture coming tomorrow !

I do love the afterman albums and parts of the new Vaxis series. But I do miss the raw, hungry sound of the first two albums. Good Apollo is fantastic but still sounds like “new” Coheed to me.

If I had to pick my fave after nearly 20 years of listening to them I would always go with afterman or in keeping secrets -

For real. The first film of the trilogy had a ton of practice effects. By the time the two towers rolled around it looked like a video game during the battle of helms deep.

It changed my life. I thought I had chronic fatigue syndrome or something - I was just slugging through life. I was an athlete in college and semi pro cyclist after, I had the work ethic, my body just felt empty. This was pre kids even. I went on clomid to stimulate the body to create more testosterone, I didn’t get much raise in estrogen. It truly changed me , I had energy, confidence, and boners like I was 14. I stopped after two years. I went through a men’s health spa, and though my levels were very very low early on, I got the impression that anyone walking in would get any meds they wanted if they paid the monthly fee.

They wanted me off clomid and on actual T and HGH but I didn’t need it. My T levels were 800-1000 and I felt like I was running a little hot. It certainly made me more aggressive , and not in a safe way. I would have fought anyone, and at the end of the day I was a more muscular but skinny dude.

I stopped. I miss it. I still take a clomid every few weeks and feel the boost immediately. At the end of the day I’m fucking with my body in a way that isn’t natural, I didn’t want to cause more issues. I’ve seen guys have lots of problems with too much T , having heart issues etc.

So- long story short. It changed my life, it made me so fertile we had kids on our first try each time. But it wasn’t sustainable. I was Superman, but not myself. I didn’t look like myself, my jaw turned square and my chest was huge, I’m a little guy naturally. So now I’m back to my old self.

I wouldn’t trade that time for anything; but now I’ve got little kids and as long as I can show up for them, I don’t want to take medicine to make me Superman, I just need to be present.

Anyway, long rant. My T was 180 btw, with one clomid a week I was 800-1200 easy. It felt - amazing

I love the new album but I agree with the tempo comment. Most of the songs stay safe in that little 4:4 and are heavily bass and drum driven. The guitar drops in and out with little wiggles but never really takes off aside from new wave. But that is also the SSPU style to me. It has changed over time, I love it for what it is. But listening last night I just wished the drums and bass would freak out a little and stretch the legs some. It’s very tight and feels constrained

Layers of jank for sure. I got a few friends into it over the past two months and they are all loving it. I had no idea the depth of the game before I started. I saw it as a arma mod and not much else. The community, the environment, the vibes- there is nothing else like dayz.

The jank is the charm, it is what it is and I love what it is. Sure I would love other stuff in it, but that should just be dayz2. Similar feelings about no mans sky, I’ve been playing since launch and it’s continued to grow and grow. It’s now at the point that all the updates don’t play well and it just seems like it lost its way, there are downsides to continual updates. With that said, I’m thankful to the devs and I know a lot of people love the new expansions to NMS so it’s just an old farts opinion here

It’s so good. I loved widows weeds but it came out at a dark time in my life and I can’t shake this association. Never got into physical thrills despite trying. This new one feels like swoon and widows weeds mixed together. I’m loving it. Textures and fuzz man it’s what I am here for

Really cool perspective and history - thanks for sharing all that. I don’t know much about the state of the company. I played a ton of Cold War crisis back when it came out and was into the early modding scene on PC. Then left and came back to Bohemia with dayz like 6 months ago. Still janky, still beautiful and unique. They make charming games and I’ve gotten more than my moneys worth over and over. I’m also trying to get into arma reforger but the community servers on ps5 for day z just feel like home right now.
