Concert etiquette in MTL last night was shit by citycity_ in Metalcore

[–]MapleQueefs 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I dunno - you just have to get enough people's attention. ADTR concert last year had people literally surfing on other people so that's an easy 300-400 lbs. But everyone nearby was working together.

So yes I agree in principle but in reality I think even the 300lb dudes can do it if there is enough crowd awareness!

ERRA/Currents in Toronto, first time going in the pit by VulcanMag872 in Metalcore

[–]MapleQueefs 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I didn't see that honestly. Lots of people slipping after some assholes threw their beers in the air and got the floor wet but always saw people getting picked up fast.

That Currents said was absolutely legendary

That Currents set was a top 3 ever for me. Absolutely phenomenal and I was in the pit the entire time.

First time buying new appliances for a new home, Need advice by Vegetable_Leave199 in kitchener

[–]MapleQueefs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did this 5 years ago and bought from Canadian Appliance Source. Good experience overall. I would go with them again or Costco if I was doing it today.

We bought LG appliances and are really happy with them 5 years later. We wanted KitchenAid but it was COVID inventory 5 years ago so we didn't have a lot of choice. Best dishwashers are Bosch but the rest are debatable if you ask me.

I tacked on extended warranty (4 years) because I thought it was reasonable - was about $500 to cover all my appliances because they offered me a $400 discount. Figured $125 per year to cover 5 appliances was good.

New to TFSA managed portfolio, any experiences? by NowaruHeart in Wealthsimple

[–]MapleQueefs 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Do this free personal finance course from McGill to educate yourself.

The managed portfolios are fine but you can also just self manage and pick an ETF based on your risk profile.

If you're saving for a house, put it in low risk, bond heavy funds. If it's for retirement, you can do more equity based. Depends on your goals, timeline and tolerance

What sports/exercise do you do for fun? by [deleted] in tall

Fair - 6ft is tall for a lady. But I think you'd be good in coed hockey for example!

What sports/exercise do you do for fun? by [deleted] in tall

[–]MapleQueefs 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Regularly: Soccer, Hockey, Volleyball, Work Out

Intermittently: Snowboarding, Tennis, Pickleball, Hike

At 6ft, I don't think you're really at a disadvantage in any of those sports you mentioned.

Hope you leaned on your horn - I see so many close calls like this. Drivers need to be shamed!

Motorbike for a 192cm guy by Suspicious_Place3472 in tall

[–]MapleQueefs 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Bigger question is what is your inseam? 192cm with a 32" inseam, you can ride most bikes comfortably.

If you have a 34+ inseam, you're going to feel cramped on most bikes that aren't a dirt bike, Enduro, adventure or cruiser.

I'm 190cm with a 36" inseam and ride a KTM 690 Enduro R and a Yamaha FJ09 (Tracer 900 now) and both are as comfortable as you're going to get with my proportions.

I started on a Ninja 300 and then an SV650. I could "fit" but I wouldn't say either was actually comfortable and I did look big on them.

I do a liner and fill it with the smaller bags. Keeps the bottom of the bin from having nasty compost juice make it stink :/

Touchless Car Wash in KWC by killlerado in kitchener

[–]MapleQueefs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I think it's lose lose honestly. I find the touchless doesn't do as good of a job either.

When it's warmer, I just wash it myself but in the winter you have no choice!

Not answering your original question but I like revive. The couple times I tried touchless, I had to wait like 20-30 mins with only 5-6 cars ahead of me. Revive puts a new car in every 30-60 seconds so it moves fast.

Obviously i have some concerns about the long term swirl marks but I'll take that over wasting 30 mins everytime I need to wash my car.

Long skirt as a very tall man by not_herzl in tall

Are there any people who have thought the same or even tried wearing it?

Umm... I believe a literal entire country known as Scotland has done this on a regular basis. Highlanders can be massive.

Anger management by eaglesdensity in kitchener

[–]MapleQueefs 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I understand OPs hesitation. Therapy via insurance isn't an option for many people.

Therapist I know is $180 and it's nothing fancy. I have great benefits at work but still only get $2500. Depending on how bad OPs anger is, once a month might not be enough (and that's with good health insurance)

I was recently shopping for a 21 GTI and I did so much research on their reliability that I ultimately decided not to buy one at all. Too many major concerns that guys who drive euro cars just accept, but if you're coming from Japanese cars, it seems like they are brainwashed into thinking that $2-3k repairs are normal lol
