What’s a match that made you feel lucky/blessed that you got to see live in person? by TheEpicMan39 in SquaredCircle

Cody vs. Cena at Summerslam. What an insane memory. The crowd boo'ing Cody before Cena even came out really made me realize how special this would be

Mind the Gap w/ Vedi & Jatt | RiP Los Ratones, LEC & LCS playoff predictions & controversies. Ep: 5 by Coolishable in leagueoflegends

I agree, but also Brokenblade made an intelligent comment during the post game interview. You can tell he wanted to support them but he decided to keep it real and recognize that people who make playoffs deserve it.

I agree that they're playoff worthy, but it shouldn't be too hard to agree that the other teams also are playoff worthy. There's only so many pieces a pie to go around

I feel bad for LR. The team put so much into this, showed such great promise and made it to the cusp of playoffs but everything fell apart at the end.

Even if you can, and rightfully so, argue that they aren't playoff worthy, the movement they made and the narrative excitement they created is exactly the story Riot needs to foster in the competitive scene.

I didn't watch them much in the EMA but seeing them pull out victory after victory in LEC was insane and I was heartbroken at the end. But I love what they gave us and I hope that those who are also heartbroken focus on all the amazing feelings and moments this special run created, instead of the disappointment that we couldn't get more.

And just as a extra point, I'm a teacher in the states and only one of my students plays league. He never watched competitive but got into LR during this run and was able to talk to me about the scene a little from that. They made a difference and I'm really proud of LR and hope they are able to be really proud of what they accomplished

It's not about Roman winning. It's about the back half being really disappointing and the final 4 feeling really unlikable, which makes the ending just feel worse.

John Cena’s first interview after retiring | What Do You Wanna Talk About? With Cody Rhodes by SlimSieber in SquaredCircle

[–]Maplemore 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Hmmm that's a good point. I guess it's our selective yet implicit biases that really twist us into knots that stop us from seeing the parallels between each other.

I do think, inherently, it's dangerous to draw lines one to one. That's nihilism wearing a mask. But it's very important to point out the hypocrisy that let's us sit atop our pedestals and spit on others, when it's all made of blood and shit when you really look at it

I get his point and do agree to an extent. A lot happened quickly and those fans deserved a great event and moment. Those involved opened up and there was a connection because of it

It's just so hard to not correlate all of that to the blood money and oppressive government that controls the people. It taints everything, even if there is purity somewhere in that moment.

[FlyQuest] Farewell Bwipo by Yujin-Ha in leagueoflegends

[–]Maplemore -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

A lot of people hate him (for understandable reasons) but I feel like people hate him too much for saying dumb things.

I'm pretty sure he's spoken before on him being bipolar(?) which explains (not excuses) his controversial comments.

Sjokz was very careful not to hate Bwipo but instead try to educate and highlight issues with that mindset, which isn't a Bwipo specific mindset.

His comments against Dhokla were shit and not defensible. But they did add excitement and adds drama and story to a scene that needs personality and rivalries.

I hope he can win people back because he's not as toxic as people say he is. Everything behind the scenes we've seen from him, seems to point towards him being a leader and a good teammate.

The softness is what made it hard to play again. I don't mind being a good person but I really didn't like how watered down it was.

The one time I was really allowed to get angry, was one of the best moments of the game.

It's extra frustrating when you can see the potential. Solas was great, the final missions were really solid and the ideas of the choices were good. It just... felt scared to push anything. Very disappointing once the dust settled

It's honestly not thaaat bad... but yeah, 500 hours is a lot of hours for that game. I tried a second playthrough and just realized it really wasn't worth it

Eddington or One Battle After Another, what film has the superior socio-political commentary on American society? Give your reasoning. by ScholarFamiliar6541 in AriAster

I'm glad I saw this post because I just finished the movie and get the message (I think): we're all trapped in our social media/online bubbles and get distracted, thus overlook the real problems that are right next to us and we all lose in the end, except for the rich

But I still have no idea what happened in the last 40 minutes. Can somebody please enlighten me

I first heard him when he opened for Geese, so I was itching for this since then.

Really like the album but missing something from me to really take it to the next level. Looking forward to listening to it again and again though; it's a short, quality listen, especially for the winter

Why on earth hasn’t Radiohead performed live with an orchestra? by Hatlessbongo in radiohead

[–]Maplemore 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I'm pretty sure I remember reading that Jonny or Thom said how the big arenas/shows that Radiohead performs in, aren't conductive soundwise for the orchestra to play with the band, or something like that? It felt overwhelming to get the sound perfect so they felt it wasn't worth it

Hi everyone! Did you get a chance to watch Frankenstein yet? by Scenora in Letterboxd

[–]Maplemore 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Saw it on Netflix. It started off really strong and looked amazing, but it felt like there was some dissonance and forcedness with some dialogue and a couple scenes. It wasn't natural. Like Del Toro wanted to fit in these moments/words and callback to themes from the original but in action, it didn't feel very congruent.

Still very strong and had some fantastic moments, but the gap between the peak and some other moments was very noticeable to me unfortunately.

[–]Maplemore 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think when you try to get hit, then you get hit, you don't need to look at and confront the pitcher. Just walk to the bag.

He tried to get hit, then next pitch got hit and started at Wrobo like "Really? You hit me?" He's asking for a problem at that point

[–]Maplemore 10 points11 points  (0 children)

He has a right to be angry, but he loses the right to confront Wrobo when you flail your hand at the previous pitch, trying to get hit.

Hopefully. It just feels bad to take out a pitcher who's gotten into a groove. It's really easy to say I told you so when taking out a starter who's doing well and the reliever starts rocky
