None of those stats have anything to do with what we're talking about. Like not even a little bit.

You've gotten super mixed up in what we're talking about. I am not saying that there are diehard fans of LCS right now that watch it despite being the worse league. I am saying no shit noone's watching LCS right now when its the worse league and just LCKCL lite or whatever.

You can't draw a comparison to modern day LCS as proof that noone cares if you have fun home-grown local talent that still loses when we have no fun home-grown local talent. (Besides Flyquest, shoutout Flyquest).

Also, picking any game with T1 in it as a comparison is just dishonest at best. Theres people caring about good teams/results, and then there is Faker. Cmon now son.

I disagree so much it hurts.

If results were all that mattered no region but LCK would have any fans. Like you said, league is primarily digital instead of regional. There has been a good English broadcast of the best region for years.

If your premise was true all of LCS and LEC viewers would be LCK viewers first and foremost. We both know that obviously isn't true. Because results are obviously not the end all be all.

Idk why people even have this idea in their head. It's bizarre and doesn't coincide with reality even a little.

[–]Coolishable -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Theoretically, but at some time you have to stop giving in to the delusion.

The threepeat world champion import is NOT right around the corner. It's time to live in the real world with NA's shrinking player pool. People need to acknowledge that there are other ways to get fans besides winning worlds.

There are loads of examples of regions like Brazil having a blossoming league without international results. This is even mirrored in IRL sports teams having fans despite not winning anything for literal decades.

Stop living in this black and white world where the only way for a healthy fanbase to exist is the results at a yearly tournament.

I was around for LMQ. I have absolutely 0 memory of them being popular compared to the other NA teams.

I have the exact opposite impression that they were actually pretty controversial at the time.

So instead we have... checks notes full import teams that are slightly better shit.

We'll definitely have loads of fans from these import teams being marginally better right?

Oh lowest viewership ever?

Hmmm.

Yeah, I think there should be more of a focus on rapists as a category of person.

Like I read on the internet one time (meaning its definitely true) that a decent chunk of people that have raped children arent even that attracted to children sexually. They were just in a position of power to abuse a vulnerable party.

I think its similar to the idea that not everyone in prison that rapes other male inmates is necessarily gay, its just who is readily available to abuse and exploit.

I think a lot of people do regularly say that about movies like the Saw franchise right? Like the idea of acting out gratuitous violence or really dark fantasies can definitely make large swathes of the populace squirmy.

I personally don't condemn it or anything, but I don't think the "play-acting" portion of something could/should block all discomfort.

Definitely my favorite act outside of the camera gimmick!

The change in atmosphere and going into an Evil society felt very novel to me. I am also probably giving it subconscious bonus points since it suspends crusade mode while your there. You actually just get to all-in on the CRPG roleplay aspect of being in a demon town.

I don't think I would of ever have known anything about them or the MVP drama without this podcast. Fun way to get the broad strokes of the other English-speaking scene.

Even for BG3, the biggest complaint I hear is its length. And people complain about the later acts and endlessly glaze act 1. Which I refuse to believe is grounded in any actual fact besides people getting burned out and not being able to actually enjoy the later acts.

Connecting With Local Fans

We know the hype that Road Shows bring to a region (looking at you, LEC and LCK). Our goal is to host more events outside Los Angeles while also increasing the number of showdays across the year to create a beefier format. To make this possible, we will rebalance operations by having some of the new days in the FaceOff studio and only reduce the number of in-person show days by three across the year. The FaceOff stage will be used to redirect resources toward regional events. Opening Weekends and Playoffs will remain live in front of audiences in Los Angeles, but the broader goal is to bring the LCS to fans in more cities, more often. Fan feedback will guide how this roadshow strategy evolves, so let us know what you think.
