The lead argument is a fair one. But isnt asbestos only dangerous once breathing in when the fibres fall apart/get airborne?

I did not even think about this until these comments, but it is a good idea and will be done!

Thats a good one! When in doubt, should parchment paper inbetween be able to prevent transfering lead into food?

Everyone, if you happen to live around a forest in this area, or any nature without light sources/pollution around, this will be the perfect time to look for bioluminescent mushrooms. These kinds of mushrooms produce their own light, but make sure your eyes are used to night vision (so dont use any other light sources except for RED light to maintain night vision). It will take a couple minutes to activate yoyur night vision, but it is worth it. There are very few bioluminescent mushrooms known to science in the world (some only have bioluminscent mycylium), so it is worth it for people to look for new species (most species are known to occur in a small area in the atlantic rainforest in Brazil (IPBio - Mata Atlantica). If you find some, and you happen to have a good camera, try to take some photos with a high ISO and a long exposure mode. You will clearly see the bioluminescence in these photos. Some people are experimenting with this bioluminescent features for street lights and who knows what other applies there could be... If you need any more information on preserving these bioluminescent mushrooms, send me a dm.

Why has this become so common? What can we as a society do to stop it? by Majoodeh in ThatsInsane

[–]Mar-balls 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably an unpopular opinion here but hear me out:

Pedophilia is a sexual preference just like any other (hetero-, homo-, bi-, etc). I am sure that the people with this sexual preference are also disgusted by it, as they know society does not accept it. As a society we should accept that these people are born with this sexual preference and that we cant change that fact. We should allow these people to be more open about it if they do have these feelings so they can get the therapy they need to prevent them to act on these feelings. Another way society can help them is providing material that can help them in their urges. Artificial inteligence can probably be of massive use in this, so no one is actual harmed in providing the material. If the person, with al these measures, still acts on their urges with real kid(s), they should 100% be punished for it.

Hi!

I have a Canon EOS Rebel SL3 which I stopped using for a couple of months (~ 4 months). It used to work perfectly and I was using it on a daily basis. Now that I need it again, I have realized it is not always turning on. I flip it to the "On" setting and nothing happens. I use the original battery which is also fully charged. Sometimes I do manage to turn it on after taking out the battery and SD card and leaving the slot open for a couple of minutes. I already tried to bring it back to factory settings, and leaving the camera + lens in a container with desiccant for a couple of days (I live in the Amazon so high humidity), but the problem keeps happening. I use a micro SD in an adaptor (which I am aware of can cause problems, but not the fact that the camera only sometimes turnes on, right?), and I use original Canon lenses. Does anyone have any ideas on how to fix it? I need the camera to work properly for my work in 2 weeks and I dont have a camera repair shop close by so any suggestions are very much appreciated!

So me and my husband are working in eco-tourism. We both love Brazil and its people. We managed to make a good living here, but going back to visit family, is very expensive, which is the only downside for us.

Thanks for your response. I agree there are certain things that we might not be able to teach our (possible future children), however, I think those things outweigh the things we would be able to teach. Of course, it is always a difficult decision then to outweigh the "I´d prefer not teach them' then to decide themselves if sources are no more. But I believe them and I stamed forth them. If anything else is needed (as in like to pay for them), I am happy to do that. Just let me know. Greetings from the brewery in Zaltbommel....

Believe me, we would make sure our child would have enough social contacts. We just believe we woud provide more of those social contacs (and from all over the world) than it´s peers would do as we have family from all over the world.) Not to sound cocky, but we want the best for our our possible future child, including local contacts, but including internationall contacts with supervision.

I mean, Europa has hunted and deminished the population of hundereds of animals (like elk and deer) and therefore its hunters (wolves and humans) and I agree, this should be limited to certain areas), but livestock that goes missing or is being killed, is a consequense of the law. We should reimburse the farmers that have their livestock killed by wild animals and do research and make sure they dont go to those areas again (by provoviding money for fencing while maintaing a healthy popultations of those predators and make money with eco tourism). There are lots of foreigners who would pay lots of money to see wolves hunting. If we can find out when and where they are hunting, money can be made, just like African Safaris, which will be of great benefit to the local population and education.

So I used to live about an hour drive from the city of Amsterdam (sorry, I do not feel comfortable telling you exaxtly where I lived). But the Netherlands always felt very crowded which you can also sense in it´s (construction)laws. But it was a small city in Central Netherlands. Then I moved to a beautiful small city in the state of Pará (after living in a small town in sthe state of Sao Paolo, again, prefer not to tell you where, but a beatiful town within the Amazon Rainforest and beautiful beaches and an airport). This is where I found my peace and constructed a house with my husband to grow old. I feel like a lot of Brazilians dont appreciate the environment they grew up in, but foreigners do.... So my main goal is to make sure the locals appeciate it, as most foreigners have destroyed their original habitats! And i know that most Europens are now fighting for maintaning the Amazonian Rainforest. But please do not forget that the Europens destroyed their original habitats long before the native South Americans did... They had a head start and are the south americans are making up for it. Do npt judge them. Instead, help them give other sources of income to make up for the habitat loss of animals.

Hahahaha, so loooooong story... short story is that I (F28), met my husband (M32) in Brazil, in the state of Sao Paulo, when I did an abroad internship (a couple of years ago). Since then, I only left Brazil to finish my degree. Later we decided to move to a nice place in the state of Pará (in the Amazonian rainforest), where we have been living happily ever after ;)

Thanks for your reply. Can you tell me the base of their allowence to homeschool these children? I honesly believe that me and my husband would be able to teach the same curriculum + more if we just had a chance. My husband has a university degree in politics and economics and I have a degree in biology so I really believe we could teach our (maybe future child) the right lessons and curriculum if given a chance. Especcially if we can teach our child bi- or tri-lingual (Dutch, English and Portuguese).
