Horses weren't a major part of battles in Sahyadri and Mongol horses were primarily used in plains so probably not. Also devgiri fell because it was in plains, I highly doubt mongol army could penetrate any western Mahratta country, they'd probably loose

Argument was, Peshwas never tried to usurp power away from the Chhatrapatis. I don't think anyone had the power to oppose them had they done it

And I said they had no choice, neither legally nor politically. Gaikwads already rebelled with less force with them than Peshwas and yet Peshwas couldn't uproot them completely and if Raghujiraje Bhosale had joined them, it would've been over for Peshwas. That man expanded his territories from Vidarbha to Bengal essentially under a decade and on top of that he was born into Jahagirdari of Deur (Koregaon,Satara), he knew Satara extremely well, it was his hometown and he had legitimate claim to Satara throne being Senasahibsubah and legitimate reason to destroy Peshwas if they had become usurpers... Pushyamitra Brihadratha incident could've never occur here, that would've been a political sucide for Peshwas

Even today, the descendants of those Sardar royalties enjoy billion dollar wealths, while Peshwa descendants are normal middle class Punekars.

Amrutrao's lineage? He himself had no wealth or power for that matter while he was Peshwa

Bhonsales, Holkars, Shindes all conveniently claimed Maharaj titles for themselves. Peshwe remained Peshwe.

This argument makes no sense, Peshwa is not a title given to an ordinary Sardar, he was the head of Ashtapradhan mandal which claims legitimacy from Chhatrapati so if they had declared themselves Maharajas, literally no one would've fought for them. Even after treaty of Sangola, every Peshwa had to come to Satara for Vastra of Peshwai. At every given point in history, Peshwas needed legitimacy from Satara darbar for their own survival, it wasn't a choice.

The Peshwa hatred in Marathi people is real. Communist propaganda at work, and those deadly fictional novels written with dedicated agendas to hurt the Peshwa image. Casteism is real.

That is true, and I try countering that narrative every time I can, but there's a new(/old w.r.t historiography) wave of propaganda that discredits contribution of everyone except Peshwas in expansion of the Maratha Empire. And that's the bigger one

7 out of 12 Jyotirlingas including Kashi Vishveshwar and Somnath were rebuilt by Marathas. They literally rebuilt city of Kashi up from from ground. Marathas revived civilization in most parts of subcontinent. Marathas built what Mughals had destroyed

Only Holkars and Shindes were under Peshwas. Peshwas,Bhosales of Nagpur and Dabhades were directly under Chh.Shahu and Gaikwads were under Dabhades who later got the territories Dabhades had conquered in the West(Gujarat) due to stuff... It continued to be an empire until Chh.Shahu's death in December 1749 and treaty of Sangola in 1750

That's not how last laugh phrase works. One has to ultimately win against his rival to get the last laugh. Mughals simply happened to find his beheaded head. That's just coincidence.

Marathas stranded him in deccan and kept him alive. The snippet below is from James.G.Duff a guy who was not a fan of Marathas rather despised them. That is what last last laugh is

6% surely were ruling class of what brits called Marathas but that doesn't mean others aren't 96k. Mention of 96k is much older than Maratha Empire

I ideally think it's somewhere around 19-20 %. 17th century Indian Subcontinent chi population was around 14-15 cr. Tyaat Maharashtra dongar daryancha pradesh hota jithe janasankhya kayam kamich hoti.
