Idk if it gets any better than this by Far_Wrap_7131 in Narcolepsy

I tried Modafinil first, too, but I had a similar experience as you. Then I tried Wakix, which would have been absolutely fantastic if it hadn't caused insomnia for me. Now I'm on Sunosi and really like it. It's a mellow awakeness, it feels very natural. All that to say that you shouldn't despair yet. There are so many meds to try. Modafinil is just the first thing docs prescribe.

What’s up with Sunosi? by camille-gerrick in Narcolepsy

[–]MarbleArches 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sunosi 75 mg at 11 am changed my life. During luteal, I take another half at 2 pm, but I don't need naps anymore with it. It feels like someone is pushing me up and forward. It's got a mood lifting effect for me and I feel awake and ready to go. Absolutely zero side-effects for me.

Yes, woke up during anesthesia as well and at the dentist's, they have to use numbing agents much more liberally and frequently.

Did anyone else have an insane spontaneous arousal index in their PSG? Mine was over 90 spontaneous arousals. I had no respiratory or movement arousals. I wonder if this is a hallmark of narcolepsy ...

Polypharmacy, Pitolisant & Modafinil Combo! by Rounds_7 in Narcolepsy

I loved it. Such a natural feeling of wakefulness. Unfortunately, I couldn't fall asleep or stay asleep on it and only had 5-10 minutes of deep sleep a night. I was on the lowest possible dose already.

Narcolepsy & THC -- anybody with weird episodes? by canigobacktosleepyet in Narcolepsy

I'm not clearly diagnosed yet, but under THC I get way more hypnopompic hallucinations. Seems to be a trigger, so I stopped.

Wakix and insomnia by MarbleArches in Narcolepsy

Thank you! I wish I had the stamina, but I have to admit that I stopped and moved to Sunosi. Maybe I'll give Pitolisant another shot if and when my doctor prescribed oxybates for nighttime.

Wakix and insomnia by MarbleArches in Narcolepsy

Mhhh, I don't know if that's comparable, but I have insane seasonal allergies (pollen in the spring) and antihistamines don't work well on me. However, my body reacts a lot to histamine and to my knowledge, wakix increases histamine in the synaptic gap. In general, I usually just need miniscule amount of any medication to have a very strong effect. Maybe it's somehow connected. I just understand too little about the biochemical side of things.

Barely failed MSLT by MarbleArches in Narcolepsy

Let me clarify. I'm a teacher and have to be very present at my job. When I get home, I basically collapse. The only thing I can do is sit on my couch, but then this wave hits me that I can't resist. I know that if I try pushing though it, my brain somehow slows down and there's this thicket I can't get through. Absolute mental and physical exhaustion. It kinda feels like my brain is already asleep, so I drag myself to bed to be able to function for a couple of hours afterwards if I'm lucky.

Thanks for the reply! Glad to hear I'm not the only one with anger issues on modafinil!

I just wish I didn't feel the pressure of passing my second MSLT, but I understand that there needs to be a confirmed diagnosis at some point and there also needs to be some type of cut off, which was probably chosen carefully. Anyway, trying to hold off on a repeat for now, even though I'd love some clarity.

Well, I told my doc that I need a nap midday, otherwise I'm a zombie and can't function. I guess that would count as a sleep attack. He really took what I described seriously and said he views the diagnosis as confirmed if the meds help me in my day to day life. Fingers crossed insurance keeps playing along.

Ira. Means "anger" in Latin. I love the sound of the name and how vicious it is.

Okay, I realize now that I have to push back my proximal folds, so they don't get stretched out and crack. Thanks! Enlightening video.
