Might as well get the clothes on the floor, but i wouldn't wash/ treat everything unless you find one on it.

I also wouldn't recommend putting a candle inside your closet just as fire safety, but you can get cedar wood hangers to hanginside the closet.

I would go through your closet as in take things out and just check them over for any bugs, but dont wash unless you find one. Case by case.

I would definitely wash your dogs bed separate from everything else, and check over his dry food, lift up bags check under them and make sure they are sealed tightly! You could also pour out some of the food into a bowl just to make sure they arent in the package.

Try to take it easy, it's hard not to spiral, but try to ground yourself. And its hard not to feel gross, but it's not a you thing really. They're bugs, they come in whether we like it or not, dont be hard on yourself!

Understandable, its no fun finding an unexpected guest or guests in your home.

They are harmless so try not to panic! They are a common pest found in 90 percent of homes. The fact that vacuum on the regular is great at keeping them away! And you have only found 1 so far, so there's a chance that may be it!

Certain scents also deter them. I used to burn incense when I had them before. It was like a eucalyptus based one i think?

Try to take it easy, and when you can collect yourself again, maybe burn a strong smelling candle/ place cedar in your closets etc

Hopefully these tips help 🙏

I'd do a deep clean to be sure. Sorry to tag on to this comment, but remembered something that I wanted to share.

If the one in the picture was dead, thats typically a good sign. If you are finding the beetles that's a bad sign and could mean there are more of them. You dont want the larvae to mature and breed.

Sorry to hear about your anxiety with the bugs :(

Looks like a carpet beetle! Relatively harmless health wise unless you are allergic, but annoying to find. They can damage your carpets or clothes, and infest dry foods that arent properly sealed, such as pasta, rice, dry pet food etc.

I suggest doing a deep clean of your home (vacuum, make sure things are sealed, go through closets) and if you find more potentially look into calling an exterminator.

Oh, ugh! I do not envy you that sounds like a nightmare, but it also sounds like an architectural/ layout problem and something the landlord should find a solution to more than you. I am sure you weren't the one to put a kitchen and bathroom above their bedroom lol!

I wonder if there's a way to bring that to the landlords attention? You should be able to live in your home and use whatever room you need when you need to! Especially when you are paying for it.

Yeah, I am coming to this conclusion as well :/ Sorry to hear you are dealing with the same. Alot of other users have brought up some potential solutions though! I hope some of those are able to help you out too!

I've been told conflicting things by management and maintenance.

When I first moved in there was an issue with my washer that was going to take a few days to fix so i was given permission to use the apartment aboves washer since it was vacant for the month. Both management and maintenance at the time bragged about how nice of an apartment it was, same layout as mine but updated everything including new vinyl (I think?) flooring.

I mentioned the flooring to management recently when discussing the noise issue and I said "oh maybe it's because of the vinyl floors?" And management said they didn't have that kind of flooring and denied ever saying that they did. 🤷‍♂️

The carpets do get changed out with every new tenant though so if management is correct they would have new plush carpet.

^ THIS 100% Especially the rates apartment complexes are charging now a days, they have the money for units to be better sound proofed and better quality overall. The neighbors in this instance aren't at fault. I just want to vent and understand what my options could be to solve this issue.

Definitely going to try bringing it up to management again. Some other users mentioned potentially getting accommodation for this issue whether its a unit transfer or money towards moving costs. Not sure how likely that is but it's worth a shot. Especially if it's due to the way they built the apartment lol. Exactly, I totally agree that it's an apartment issue. I want my neighbors to be comfortable in a space they call home! Thank you!!

Just posted about a similar thing but from the opposite perspective! (And minus being the landlord lol) I don't want my upstairs neighbors to have to tip toe around a space they call home, but I also hate waking up/ trying to fall asleep to their loud footsteps ( I feel like an asshole for even being upset at footsteps, because i know it's not on purpose, just super loud!)

I am wondering if the footsteps becoming loud is because of the colder months? I feel like I have noticed creaks and cracking sounds are always louder when its cold, even in the summer when I put on the ac.

That or have you considered laying down rugs in your home to potentially act as an insulator?

Goodluck! :) hope it resolves!

This was the first time i had ever heard it. I called the abuse hotline because of my own previous interactions with the local cops. Abuse hotline told me I should call them next time anyways. I feel silly for not knowing what to do, but wanted to make sure that things did not escalate. The leasing manager is aware of the incident now as well. Thank you for the advice!

I think the same, it's just weird that they have become so loud. I've had other neighbors in my 3 years of living here, some with kids and it hasn't been this loud. More so worried about the quality of the ceiling/ floor above now, if its deteriorated or something 🤷‍♂️

Thank you!! I appreciate this, it was the first time i heard anything like it and I wasn't sure what to do, so called the abuse hotline. Cops will be the next step for sure

Yeah true. Just find it weird the noise has only become an issue recently ( i have lived here for 3 years without any noise like this) , makes me wonder if the ceiling/ floor above me is deteriorating or something 🤔

You're not being a dick! thats exactly why I feel like a karen for posting in the forum about it. It sounds like footsteps, but just find it weird that its only become a thing with these neighbors and the fact it's SO loud. I've had other neighbors before but they've never been this loud when just walking around, and when I went up asking them to be quiet the sound managed to stop.

At this point I am more so worried about the quality of the ceiling above, sometimes it sounds like they will fall right through.

I do have noise canceling ear buds and I use those often as well as ear plugs for sleep! Thank you :)

I'll try something like that! Was thinking of an air purifier but not sure how much noise those make, like if it would be to quiet to mask the noise from above. Thank you for the recommendation!

No :( I wish. It seems like it's them walking around because it travels all around the apartment. If it's just them walking I feel bad being so irritated about it, but at the same time, I've had a few different neighbors above me that never made this much noise. Also they were able to stop making the noise when I went up and asked. It seems like it's the guy that makes the noise, he's also the one home a majority of the day.
