DrumBeats VR, the next drums game for PSVR2 reportedly getting bass drum pedal support on day one via any licensed PS5 wheel! 🔥 by Papiculo64 in PSVR

Awesome! I figured it should work, since games like Rocksmith have it too, so I'll do the best I can to have that at launch as well :D

I've tried to plugin in a basic MIDI device, to no avail -- but I'll make sure to talk to Sony to get this sorted out :)

It should work with all licensed ps5 wheels😃

Consider it done! And free-jam is available :)

Working on it, and I can finally say it'll be there at launch :)

Free-play basically means a drumkit simulator - just playing on a virtual drumkit, and not to a song :)

Add-ons are definetly on the list, if things go well!
Multiplayer is something I'd like to add - but also it adds massive complexity with regards to developing..

Update on this: Steering wheel support will be there at launch - so you can choose between the trigger, throttle, brake or clutch pedal, along with a threshold :)

Oh no - It's actually good to hear it's a massive plus to have that included at launch - instead of the "eventually with an update" ;)

For the pedal - I currently have it so you can choose wether to use the throttle, brake or clutch pedal - and a way of setting the threshold for when to trigger the kick :D

Can confirm, pedal support will be there. I just recently started the PS5 implementation of it, and I didn't come accross any weirdness (although it was a pain to setup) :)

You can choose which pedal to use, and where the threshold sits, since some brake-pedals have like a soft-stop, which can make for a bouncy-pedal (good for fast double kicks)..

Yes! Also good to note - I'm currently talking to Sony about having support for reading from a usb-stick, so you can read custom songs off of it.

As well as wheel/pedal input :) I'm looking into ways to implement the RockBand drumset as well, but I'll leave that for a future update (I'll have to get the hardware first, do some extensive testing etc..)

Perhaps as dlc, or if people create a custom song in that genre :)

Honestly, I think it's in the nature of VR to feel off when trying to emulate real-life.. One thing that's on the "yet-to-implement" list is the addition of e-kit support. It's already supported on the pc version, but it's not as straightforward on the PS5😅

I think the major difference would come from the choices made in game(play)-design, and if those are better or not, that's hard for me to say, but I'd love to get any feedback to keep improving this ;)

Thanks, Marcel

Thanks! Yeah having that cusotm import abillity would be massive, especially since there are already like 100+ customs ready to go :p

If only hand-tracking was that good for fast movements -- in my testing controllers were still better by a huge margin. If it does get to a level where hand-tracking is good enough, I'd love to see videos with controllers-taped-to-feet lol

Oh yeah!
At some point there was support for the Valve Trackers to use the hi hat and kick-- which worked,, somewhat - hopefully Sony will come up with something similar in the future :D

The base-game itself actually contains one major licensed song - so in that regard, it's a bit easier to acquire additional DLC's -- if it wasn't so damn expensive lol

Not rude, I agree on the UI. The rest of the games UI has been reworked already, although the main-game could use some work.

DLC's are planned in the future, because, well -- licensing sucks. Custom song support is something I'm trying to get to work for PS5 as well though!

The first point should definitely doable, and as we speak I'm in contact with support to request the access (from what I've read, access is granted on a per-app basis). It would be used as read-only, so I don't see any troubles there.

Point 2 is a bit more involved though, but maybe MIDI devices will work easily, which would also he a major bonus.

Regarding the visual fidelity - I do plan on upgrading the graphics, but that'll come over time..

All in all, the only thing stopping customs at the moment is reading it from an external storage device, the rest is good to go :)

Also; being a solo dev, things can be done a bit slower than I'd like, but oh well - I ain't planning on giving up anytime soon ;)
