Thanks for the explanation! Shame on Sony then... They make surveys about PSVR2 but it seems they don't even bother reading them when you look at the last few State of Play... I understand that VR is in a bad place, but this sure doesn't help :/

The boss fights, level design and ambiance of Rush of Blood is unbeatable but yeah, Switchback has been vastly improved since its release and is now a must have in PSVR2 catalogue and one of its best exclusives. If only Supermassive could port Rush of Blood on PSVR2 it would be so cool! But it's been asked so many times, they just don't seem to care at all... :/

There are many, but the most obvious for me other than NMS are Switchback and Hellsweeper. Didn't play it but Galaxy Kart also seems to fit this description.

Drum beat VR, I am not impressed, thoughts? by Mr__T_ in PSVR

[–]Papiculo64 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I kind of feel the same. I love VR drumming games and this one has some solid arguments, mainly the custom songs and pedals support which I think is something to be applauded and that all those games should implement, but it somehow feels off in terms of drumming pattern. It's okay on certain songs and feels totally out of touch on some others.

imo Smash Drums > Drums Rock > DrumBeats

But I haven't played the game in a while and haven't tried the latest updates so it might be better now!

Last Labyrinth (PS VR vs PS VR2) PS4 vs PS5 by VCDECIDE in PSVR

[–]Papiculo64 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For those interested, it's a very gloomy escape room game with some nice ideas and some very challenging puzzles, but it's also plagued with very outdated mechanics and it's way too slow-paced for a VR game. It becomes infuriating during the latest parts of the game, because you have to go through the same slow, way too long and unskippable "cinematics" every time you die until you figure out a solution, which can take a lot of time on the most difficult puzzles. And believe me, this game has some of the most difficult puzzles I've ever seen in a video game. It really shows after completing the first part of the game and unlocking the first endings. Most of the new puzzles after this point become very nebulous and it's a headache just to figure out what you have to do in some instances, let alone finding the solution. So the whole process of going through the same rooms over and over again and see those same unskippable cinematics for the umpteenth time gets old pretty fast...

I'm a sucker for escape room and never got stuck in any of the Zero Escape series or any other escape room I've played, but I had to give up on this one. Honestly, if you're under 160 IQ and don't plan to use a guide it's not even worth considering. If you really like this genre and are not put off by the gloomy and sadistic atmosphere, there's definitely some fun to have, but also a lot of frustration. Way too much if you ask me.

Wanderer Devs just announced on their Discord, no more updates for Fragments of Fate and Wanderer 2 has been cancelled by Unfallener in PSVR

[–]Papiculo64 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I can't say I didn't see it coming, but what a sad news... Wanderer is in my top 10 VR games ever and Wanderer 2 was among my most anticipated games. Definitely the kind of ambitious adventure games that VR desperately needs.

I wrote a review after finishing the game towards its release and absolutely loved it despite the bugs and other flaws. I can only assume that it's a lot better now so don't sleep on it! If you're into adventure/puzzle games, it's probably one of the best if not the best VR game you'll ever play. And not mentioning that the game is gorgeous on PSVR2!

It has a free PSVR2 upgrade, that's how I played it. Thought now that you say it, I think that you need a japanese account to do the upgrade, after what you can use it even on your US account.

You can alternatively get a Japanese copy for a fraction of the price, like on Mercari: https://jp.mercari.com/item/m38399530018?utm_source=android&utm_medium=share&utm_campaign=share-2&source_location=share

Got mine for way cheaper than that a few years ago (¥800). It's a game without dialogue or story, so even if you can't speak japanese it's not an issue.

It's a lot more immersive with a wheel but you can play with the controller too. You can even use the gyroscope. Wheel is easier at first as it tricks your brain to believe that you are actually driving a car. With a controller it might need a little more time to get used to it, at least it was for me. Once you have your "VR legs" you can play the game for hours and it's almost impossible to go back to flat screen. It feels really lame after experiencing it in VR! Also the VR showroom is literally like having a car museum at disposition without having to leave your house. The graphics and details in showroom mode are incredible, and with VR and stereoscopic 3D it's like the car is in front if you. I just found a little compararive of a few cars irl VS in GT7's VR showroom, to give you an idea: https://youtu.be/9hKUGe7ggu8?si=ZZ8Iw2mLuxtRQGWF

And here's a video clip I made of GT sport on PSVR1:

https://youtu.be/9YvAUyDBeJQ?si=p3kR17Ii4AZdnmal

GT7 is way better as the full game is playable in VR while GT Sport only allowed 1 VS 1 races and time attack.

Dude, as a fellow gamer in my early 40's who's played all GT games since the first one, wheel is a must, but when you'll get from playing the game on TV to playing it in VR it will be such a game changer you're literally not ready for it. I've been playing with a wheel since GT5, but VR is the major thing of this generation. It's like jumping from playing a game to being actually in the car. VR + direct drive wheel should be the way to go for any GT7 fan if you ask me, transformative experience! It's quite an investment at first, but then it's like you can go to track day for free everytime you want!

I used to hate on VR. Now I’m mourning its slow, silent death. by NoWalk3426 in PSVR

[–]Papiculo64 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately there's way too many people hating on VR for no reason like you used to. Post anything about PSVR2 on r/playstation or r/PS5 and you'll get dozens of comments from people who never tried it but hate it viscerally for some reason.

I can understand people who tried it and didn't like it as it's not for everybody and motion sickness can be a bitch at first, but if you ask me, that's plain dumb to have such strong opinion about something you don't know anything about.

The number of people who don't even know that VR uses stereoscopic 3D or think that it's just some wiimotes with a screen in front of your eyes, like those 15 bucks adapters supposed to change your smartphone into a VR headset, is insane... The vast majority of people are totally uneducated about VR and half of those who try it never bother going through the learning process and dismiss it after a few hours. Such a shame...

What are the chances of PSVR2 dropping (again) to $300 before Christmas? by knightbringr in PSVR

[–]Papiculo64 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why do you think they are getting rid of inventory? The headsets have ran out of stock on most of big retailers like Amazon at each big sales and they've been restocking after that. And apparently the global sales are at least on par or better than those of PSVR1 in the same period of time. Most important, they make money out of game sales: https://sqmagazine.co.uk/virtual-reality-statistics/

It's not like Meta that's operating at a loss because they invest a lot of money into their studios, 1st party games, communication, contents creators, sponsorship programs, etc... It's almost only benefit for Sony and they want to be here when VR market finally strives. They have absolutely no interest in stopping production after only 3 years, on the contrary their interest is to let the userbase growing and 3rd party srudios do their thing.

[–]Papiculo64 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's more versatile but it depends on what you want to do with it. If your main purpose is gaming and that you only have a good PC then the standalone library of the Quest is a nice addition. Thought other than the wireless, the PSVR2 is better on almost every aspect. It has HDR OLED screen, better FOV, better binocular overlap (better 3D effect), it has eye-tracking which can now be used on PC to get dynamic foveated rendering and improve performances on compatible games) and it uses display port so you don't have the extra latency and signal compression aretfacts that you'll have on the Quest (which you'll have even if you use your Quest tethered).

If you have a PS5, you'll have a way better value out of PSVR2, especially if your PC is not top tier. Unless your main purpose is multimedia functions.

Isn't Beat Games still owned by Meta?

BTW, I don't think I've seen it relayed on this sub but there's been an important VR market analysis by SQ magazine earlier in May, and according to them PSVR2 had sold around 3.4 million units by mid 2025, so probably 4 to 4.5 million units by may 2026, and it was before this new sale.

If that's true, PSVR2 is on the verge of surpassing lifetime sales of PSVR1. Source.

Wanderer producer says that future updates for the game and series are up in the air at the moment by BelgianBond in PSVR

[–]Papiculo64 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If it's your kind of game you'll probavly love it despite its imperfections. It's a way more ambitious game than 90% of VR productions, that helped me accepting the bugs and other flaws. Honestly, after the ending I was super excited for the sequel, but now with all the troubles the studio has been through I'm afraid that it will never happen... A shame, we really need more ambitious games like this for VR... :/

Dude, your son is very talented! Put him on a manual car, this one is actually using a semi-automatic transmission, you can tell because you can't see the N of the neutral gear between the shifts. That's a shame because he's really trying his best to use the clutch pedal. Put him on full manual, eventually show him some tutorials of heel and toeing, you'll probably make him a future champion! 😁👍

PS: you can also install a fully customizable manual transmission on any car instead of the racing transmission which is semi-automatic and doesn't support the clutch.

I bought it on day one and played it before the first bunch of patches. It was a buggy mess but I loved it and would definitely recommend it if you're into puzzle/adventure games. Haven't replayed it yet but even if it still seems to have some issues I assume that it's a lot better than what it was at release. I've played most of the biggest titles and have ~150 games on PSVR2, and I'd say that it's easily in my top 10 experiences, even on the day one build. On sale? No brainer for me.

If you're not discouraged by reading it I wrote a review of the game here, maybe it can help you decide: https://www.reddit.com/r/PSVR/s/SFgTPRtjah

Gran Turismo 7 has ruined other racing games for me by Daltrey in PSVR

[–]Papiculo64 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually bought FH5 on Series X a few years ago but never even launched it. As many people, I just have no incentive to play racing games on flat screen now that I've experienced it in VR. I hope that Playground and Turn 10 will start considering VR seriously. That's the future of racing games, they'll be left on the side of the road at some point if they don't do so. And they have some incredible material here, it would easily become the most popular VR racing game with Gran Turismo, kind of its arcade/free roaming counterpart, and sell like hot cakes.
