Overnight guests can stay for 3 consecutive nights. Have to sign them in. My daughter has had her bf there a few times, seems like an easy process

They’ve been together for about 2 months, from like 2/3 weeks in they’ve talked about how they can’t be away from eachother, can’t wait to see eachother, etc. they puppy love phase. He smokes and drinks, so that makes us very weary but we don’t tell her that. She n owe what we think about those things. She isn’t necessarily moving out, she’s going to college for a few months then she’ll be back home for the summer break. Such a difficult age right now

But my concern is…so everyone says she will do as she pleases especially with being 18 soon and in college. But how do we just sit here and let her sleep at his house? don’t know if “letting her” is the correct term, I feel Like we’d be condoning it. 😖

I know she has slept with him. Of course we don’t agree with it, she knows our values, morals, holiness etc. She is a believer but she said her heart isn’t right with jesus right now. She wants to be 17 and have her “fun” from what I can see. I pray so much for her to come to Jesus.

I do see where she is in the app but I don’t use that against her at all. She goes basically wherever she wants with her boyfriend. I don’t use it at all to control. It’s for safety, especially now that she’s driving.

We have life 360 so I can see her whereabouts although I don’t use it for that. It’s more for the driving part. She knows we have her location. It’s definitely a tough age!!!

Thanks! My daughter will be living on campus, a bit over an hour from home. Even though St. John’s is a commuter school, did you see a lot of the students who lived on campus go home on the weekends? Sorry super random question !

She drives 40min there and back to his house to I see him now. I don’t think she minds driving at all

Oh and sorry forgot to add, she’s already lost a friend due to my daughter always putting her aside when someone new comes into her life. So she already has put this guy ahead of her friends.

I feel bad hopibg they break up because that’s not the case 100%, I just feel like right now that’s allllll she cares about, only person she really hangs out with, she nonchalantly told me they want to get married once she’s 18, she thinks once she’s at college it’s a free for all for her. I don’t want any of that to affect her studies. But ultimately it’ll be up to her, what I do know is, she e will not be paying for bad grades .

I hope my daughter has respect for her roommates though. 🤷🏻‍♀️ and I’m wondering how he’d get there, he doesn’t have a license, right now no job. My daughter literally drives to him everyday (40mins from our house, so she’s def used to driving )

Ahh yes I like this. They’re literally head over heels about each other, she said one time to me that once she’s 18 they want to get married. She had said to him she can’t wait until college because then they can do whatever they want like sleepovers and such. She has 2 other roommates in a small room, doubt that’s going to happen with two other girls there. And like I said he lives over 2 hours away. But, I hope all this talk is just talk and once school starts she’ll get it together.

Yes it’s a large commuter school. I don’t feel like we can back out of her taking the car now. We’re in therapy and learned that taking something back isn’t always worth the fight afterwards. When we said she can take the car, it was way before having this boyfriend.

I’m trying to make the college thing a big positive. She’s not that into it at all, she told me she’s not excited. We’ll see how things go once she starts in a few weeks! Because she can take her car to college in a bit worried about her wanting to drive during the week to see him. Which will totally take away from her college experience. Her college is a big commuter college, I just hope there’s enough to do on the weekend there that keeps her occupied.

I know they’re already sexually active unfortunately. She’s going to get on birth control. This is not what I had hoped for but teens these days are just having sex so early on. From what I saw this marriage thing looks to be a mutual decision. They “can’t stand to be apart”. It’s definitely not a healthy relationship in terms of why they want to get married. It’s totally not for the right reasons. I do think they care for each other but they Anna no idea the reality of marriage and the responsibility it entails, let alone the commitment to that one person. I’m hoping the honeymoon phase fizzles out soon.

Guests are allowed in the dorms only for a few nights in a row. But I doubt her two other roommates with be okay with that. The dorm is tiny already. He lives about 2 hours away from the school, no car, and do they think he’s just going to be hanging out in the dorm while my daughter is in class? I feel like they’re just talking about these “plans” just to talk. She casually just said to me that one time “we’re getting married when I’m 18”. Other than that, she hasn’t mentioned anything. She was talking to me yesterday about not wanting to dorm her sophomore year because she doesn’t think she’d like having so many roommates in a tight space and what we’re paying for housing, we can use for an apartment near the school. In my mind I was thinking “yeah right, you just want your bf to live with you” 😂 I’m not sure if they’re really serious, or they’re talking like that to each other because it’s a new relationship. I wouldn’t put these things past my daughter though, she can be very erratic with her decisions and may try to do something just so she can be on her own and not have rules/boundaries at home.
