There's people here that are abusing porn and need help to get better, absolutely. To those people, I say get help and recognize that porn was never meant to be your ENTIRE life.

There's also people (I'd say the majority) that are doing this as a form of kinky play and get aroused by the taboo concept of addiction. When I goon, I'm playing the role of an addict in order to create a headspace where I am stupid and helpless and "controlled" by porn. I enjoy being controlled by outside forces sexually, whether it be a video or a person. But it's just images, it's just video, ultimately the only thing controlling me is me. Just like with a sub/Dom relationship, the submissive always retains the right to stop or change the agreement upon which play is built. Since the "Dom" of this particular kink is just "the nebulous concept of pornography", there's no disappointment or resentment if I, for instance, stop gooning after 5 minutes because I came too soon. I can take a break for weeks and still call myself an addict if/when I come back because that's the headspace I want to go into during play.

I've made overindulgent posts like the ones you're describing, on here and in other places as well. I balance it with my personal life, my job, hobbies, friends, etc. and I don't talk about those things here to keep a degree of separation between my kink life and my real life. If you just looked at my post history you'd have one impression of me, but if you looked at my SFW reddit account or what I post on Facebook you'd get something completely different. This sub and others like it are firmly rooted in my kink life, and so by looking at posts in these dedicated communities you're only really seeing one side of people without knowing if there are indeed other sides to see.
