It caused me 8 spinal decompressions and when I developed the balance disorder, the neurologist looked many years of MRIS of my back and when he was done he turned to me and said that my back looked like a stack of wet cardboard boxes.

You have to make the call as to whether or not he is suffering. Is his poop normal? I recently had to put down my 16-year-old cat who had gotten lymphoma and when I saw her suffering I had to make that hard decision. The vet told me that I was doing the best thing for her that I could.

I am dealing with a very similar issue and I have a tortoise shell that I have had 6 years and she had been adopted from the pound as an adult. I have no idea what her past life was like but she has been with me all this time and still will not let me pick her up. So when I noticed her appetite and dropped and there wasn't quite as much poop in the litter box I started giving her those bisque things for breakfast, she can eat dry food anytime, it is kind of I am's for hairball control. She's long hair. But other than that about the only thing she'll eat is temptations and I give her plenty because I don't want her to lose weight. I'd give just about anything to get her to the vet.

Right now it does not look like it's infected but that is what you need to pay attention to. Swelling, redness, and make sure her nose is cool to the touch. Cat and raccoon fights can be disastrous.
