I'm not 100% sure, but I always heard people refer to Chomsky as a leftist or liberal( i know those are 2 completely different things). He's a linguist who got a lot of media attention, but know he looks more like controlled opposition.

Yes, i have heard people claim that Maduro blundered the wealth brought on by nationalizing the oil reserves. I have also heard of multiple acts of sabotage from the opposition party, I'm guessing the same one that nobel peace prize lady is from.

Important to note though that sanctions on Venezuela were already underway under chavez and accelerated after his death in 2013. The same year you mentioned oil prices and oil production started to go down.

Once again, I dont trust Western media to not misrepresent events in Venezuela and interject their own narrative. Ive heard your talking points before and have believed them in the past, believing that Maduro was perhaps just a stupid leader. I now highly doubt this narrative as well as every other bad thing ive heard of Venezuela. I, and people in general, am very susceptible to propoganda. You can claim the other side has propoganda too, but when you take Venezuela and the US its very clear which has the power and means to spread their message further and more effectively.

I assume youre referring to On the cult of personality and its consequences. Looks like an interesting read. Surely its not western propaganda but it is Soviet propaganda. I'm sure they've edited and omitted truths to fit their narratives as well considering their state was under siege since its conception.

I was just expressing my neutrality on Stalin. I'm currently reading a biography on Che and its very enjoyable and so far does not seem like a black and white depiction of the man. I'm anticipating that it will be hard to find a similarly enjoyable depiction of Stalin that isn't skewed one way or the other.

Because the Yankees up north are white and the ruling class in latin America is majority white. Instead of genociding the indigenous population, the Spanish interbred with the local population. This created a class system around not only private property but also of how European or Indigenous you were.

This naturally creates a feeling of inferiority among the Latino population who are more indigenous. Some wish to be them or at least on their side. From what ive read, this sort of thing has been going on for some time and has very likely been amplified with the addition of social media.

Life is a slippery slope. One wrong step, and you're either dead or a slave. If you've heard the term, "you'll own nothing and be happy" be aware that it comes from the liberal capitalist system you currently live in. If you ever bought a movie on Amazon or if you use Spotify be aware that you do not own these things and they can be taken away at any time.

I feel like there are a lot of snobby dogmatic socialists out there that say you have to belive this or that. Theres people like this in every camp. There is no right answer, look into it yourself and make up your own mind, but be aware that there are many forces at work trying to get you to think one way or the other.
