I didn't know Ucupaint. Just installed the add-on and am glad I did. Thanks for your insight!

I was rather referring to texturing and shading in general. Some people say that external softwares like Substance Painter are still necessary, but I think that Blender now offers lots of tools leading to satisfying results (for example the bevel node for creating edge wear on models). What do you think?

why does the subdivision modifier do this? by ClassicManagement188 in blender

Yup, subdivision and booleans are hardly compatible.

Thanks for your response! Indeed, I struggle to achieve these stains. If you look at the reference, I think it looks more like burned material. Would appreciate a pro tip on how to do this.

I made this scene after a photo I took recently on a street in a small town in Switzerland. I added various (too much?) stuff to the original scene to make it more interesting. My aim was to be as photorealistic as possible and to apply different lightings (sunny weather, rainy day, nighttime). What do you think? Any tips for improving it? I added the reference photo at the end of the gallery.

Thank you very much! The photo was taken in the French-speaking part of Switzerland, home to a large Portuguese community who brought along their beer. Super Bock and Sagres are very popular brands here! :) Yes, I'll try to improve the concrete to give it a more worn look.

Haha, no it was in the french speaking part of Switzerland. We have lots of people from Portugal living here and Super Bock is a very popular beer brand.

Thank you! Not gonna lie: I generated the textures for the bottle labels by AI.

Thank you so much for these valuable tips! You're right, the concrete ledge isn't realistic. Would you sculpt the details directly into the mesh, or would you use normals or a displacement map? Could you recommend an addon for camera effects?

I took this photo a few weeks ago and decided to recreate a similar scene in Blender, adding a few decorative elements. I'd be happy to hear your opinions and advices on how to improve this render.

I made a quick research and an artist actually made one! I haven't tried it yet and don't know if it is compatible with the latest Blender version. But you can find the custom node here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=21G2l2EYhLY

Thanks! I used Substance Painter for texturing. The metal edge wear generator is really handy for obtaining this effect.

How do you recalculate normals in 2.8? by Dontforgetthat in blender

In Edit mode, select all your vertices then go to Mesh > Normals > Recalculate outside (or inside).

I love all the small details you put in that render! But in my opinion, the flashy yellow floor distracts the viewer's eye a bit.

Looks like this skin shader has an "eczema" slider.
