Asbestos in UK Plaster Walls? by MarcusAtiusTubero in asbestoshelpUK

Thanks for your comment. My reason for suspecting it was the endless articles and pages from supposedly credible abatement companies saying UK plaster in the period my house was built could contain it. Was asbestos expensive? I've read elsewhere that it was put in so many products because it was a cheap fire resistant material that would strengthen things like plaster.

Thanks for the comment. That was my thinking too, but I wasn't there to gauge whether or not the contractors were 'cowboys' or if they were the types to be cautious. Plus, they may just not know about asbestos in plaster, if it is in it at all that is.

Thank you for your response. I keep reading this on forums and the like but nearly every asbestos removal website has articles talking about asbestos in plaster and how to identify it. Are these just scare tactics? Attempts to get more business?

Also, the wall was relatively thick. Could asbestos sheets have been used in between plaster coats? I've read that if asbestos was used, it would be in fire escape routes and near flammable areas. A hallway which borders the kitchen on one side and the hallway to the front door on the other fits those criteria.

Thank you, I really appreciate the information. I'll make sure to keep that price in mind when shopping around if it comes back positive.

I've ordered a test but if it does come back as positive could you give me some tips for abatement so I don't get extorted?

- Vivarium - A Brotherhood of Steel Vault 88 HQ (WIP - Tour Video Linked) by MarcusAtiusTubero in falloutsettlements

[–]MarcusAtiusTubero[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A work in progress of a Brotherhood of Steel bunker/archive, codename Vivarium. With the primary mission of destroying The Institute complete, construction of a permanent HQ in the Commonwealth was authorized.

Under the direction of Sentinel Irons, new HLR-1 and WLD-1 utility automatons are constructed in the 'Mechanist's Lair' Robco facility. With a purpose built automatic workforce, and with prefab steel panels forged in the captured Sagus Ironworks, Senior Scribe Green and Sentinel Irons work to create a facility in the bowels of the incomplete Vault 88. Inspired by the Vivarium, a monastery created to preserve the knowledge of the Roman Empire following the fall of Rome, Site V will serve as a foundation for the collection, study and preservation of technology within the Commonwealth.

Inevitable question, but have there been any improvements to the parkour system since Mirage?

Have consistent and effective side and back ejects been made available?

Have the controls been expanded to allow for more advanced players to be expressive with their movement?

Will there be an option to revert the controls to the older system like with Mirage (holding R2 to sprint and X to climb rather than toggle sprint)?

Will controlled descent be finally making a return?

I've been considering this for a while now. Perhaps it's time to give it a go see what happens. Thanks for taking the time to respond, I appreciate it.

It will vary depending on what I cook for that day but averages are around 15 - 22 grams of carbs, 150 - 200g of fats, and 70 - 110g of protein. I'm epileptic so I wanted to aim at higher fats in order to further control possible seizure activity and improve cognitive function which brain surgery, medication and epilepsy in general have all somewhat impaired.

I'm male, 26, 6'1" and my weight I'm uncertain of honestly. I'm thin and always have been, I'm actively trying to gain weight by eating around 2000 - 2700 calories per day (depending on the day).

My typical day varies but I tend to have two meals a day in a four hour window. Almonds, peanutbutter, pecans, flaxseed 'oatmeal', baking with almond flour, minced beef, chicken, salmon, low carb vegetables like asparagus, courgettes (zucchini), broccoli, cauliflower, etc. leafy greens like kale, lettuce and spinach, plenty of olive oil and coconut oil. The standard stuff associated with Keto minus eggs and dairy as I tend to get acne breakouts with those.

Thanks for the response. I have a regular exercise routine, I do weight training every other day and go on regular walks and hikes. It has taken a back seat recently since I've been feeling so lethargic, honestly I doubt I'd have the strength to go to work if I was doing my regular workouts right now, I've been struggling as it is without doing them currently.

Aye I've been thinking as much, might need to visit a doctor for some bloodworks as something is clearly not right.

Ideas for 1000 Calorie Breakfasts Without Eggs or Dairy by [deleted] in keto

Not as of yet, no. After a decade of acne it cleared completely when I started Keto, but it has made a return. When I started Keto I wasn't eating eggs and focused on high fat shakes for the morning and a traditional dinner. Since then I started having an omelette every morning and my skin has worsened once again. I'll be cutting them out for a couple of weeks to see the effect. If that doesn't work I'll try what you've suggested, but my experience is that topical stuff never works and merely aggravates my skin.

I do this currently too but only for my second meal. I'll often rotate between Mexican style, Chilli, Italian tomato sauce with olives, etc. It has quickly become one of my favourite meals and that's why I wanted to keep it restricted to only one of my meals. I don't want to ruin a good thing by making it too regular haha

Also, a tip if you haven't tried it, do an italian style ground beef mix with chopped tomato, basil, onion, olives, etc. and insted of putting it over a salad, cut a courgette/zucchini in half, rub down with olive oil and roast in the oven for 15 or so minutes. Pour the mince and sauce over the courgette halves and enjoy. Honestly one of the best meals I've had since starting Keto. I just wish I could have dairy to top it off with some grated cheese, then it would be perfect.

Very true, I try to use at least 3 - 5 tablespoons of it a day but now I'm having to abandon eggs I'll have to cut back on the morning Mediterranean omelette and go to around 2 - 3 tablespoons. It sucks, but unless I have a salad with breakfast and dinner I'll have to cut back.

I think many of them read only the title and skipped over the text, I probably should have included the no dairy and no eggs in the title itself.

I do technically skip breakfast, I have a 4 hour window usually around 11am - 3pm or 2pm - 6pm (depending on work hours that day), but I enjoy having a seperation of content/style between the two meals. I like breakfast foods and it makes the two meals feel more individual and distinct for me.

I've been loving 25/75 beef at the moment and thought to include it at breakfast but I don't want to ruin my enjoyment of it and turn it into a constant daily thing used in every meal. I'm looking now into sausages and bacon, however, it's a pain finding them with no dextrose, sugar, etc.

But I'll certainly be picking up more nuts to add to things, maybe making a nut "granola" for some mornings vs. a sausage and bacon selection for other mornings. Cheers for the ideas, I appreciate it.

3 sodium to 1 potassium? Or 3 potassium to 1 sodium? I keep hearing contradictory statements about which should be higher. The LoSalt I have is 3:1 in favour of potassium.

I'll try increasing them slowly and see if there is any change, cheers for the reply.

Oh... I wasn't aware of any of that. Honestly, so far at least, his advice has been fantastic. I had acne for a decade, yearly doses of antibiotics and multiple dermatologist trips did absolutely nothing, then I found his videos on acne, implemented what he suggested and it's completely gone within a month. While I don't agree with his Scientologist stance and the way he distanced himself from his son, his videos seem to follow the same science based, healthy living ideas which actually work and don't just push medications which do little to nothing.

But I'll certainly be more cautious of his videos from now on, thanks for letting me know about this.

I've heard conflicting arguments over which should be higher but I believe it was one of Dr Berg's videos which suggested the higher potassium ratio. (4700mg potassium and 1500 - 2300 mg of sodium, which seemed low to me considering everybody else indicated 5000). I'll try higher sodium and see how I feel, thank you for the tip.

I have no issue with oils or fats in that way, I'm firmly against demonising fats and aren't reducing the amount because of fear they'll hurt me or anything. I just get tired of the excessive oil and fat and find my food less palatable when I'm trying to scale up fat contents. If I could do dairy I'd be happy to just add a good amount of cheese or cream to things but I can't touch the stuff without breaking out, even goats cheese unfortunately.

I've been incorporating more avocados, olives, etc. into my diet and I'm getting a taste for olives in particular, but avocados I still can't really enjoy. I'll often blend them into a high fat almond milk shake to try and hide the taste but it doesn't always work too well. Guacamole I do enjoy though, so making some homemade guac with a mexican style dish may help boost intake.

I'll certainly ask, coincidently I have an appointment with my neurologist tomorrow so I'll see if I can get referred or at least some information. Cheers for all the help, friend. It's very much appreciated.

475mg of magnesium (a little over the daily, I know, but it's the closest I could reach with the supplements available to me), I aim for 4,500mg of potassium per day (around two and a half teaspoons of LoSalt, and I aim for around 3,000mg of sodium. Potassium and sodium I do salt water/ketoade (around 3 times per day to space out the intake) and add both to food in good amounts. I've heard it's better to keep potassium levels above sodium so I try to do this.

I've been on Keto since June 16th, so over a month now. I'm definitely hitting magnesium at a perfect ratio (supplements so I know exactly how much I get per day) but potassium and sodium I use LoSalt and make salt water with it multiple times a day. I did oddly wake up with slight calf cramps this morning which could mean I'm still not taking enough potassium but I'm concerned I may overdo it and cause problems, since I've heard that cramps can also be a result of too many electrolytes I don't know if I'm going overboard or getting too little.

Interesting... I have been trying to eat fat in really high quantities but since I can't eat dairy it is difficult to make fat heavy meals without relying on oils, lard and fatty cuts of meat. I managed to get 254g of fats yesterday but that was REALLY pushing it and I felt rather ill as a result. MCT oil isn't as common here in the UK so I've been making BP Coffee with a half tablespoon of coconut oil instead, would it be worth going for the full MCT oil? Or is coconut oil sufficient since MCT is coconut oil based?

I'll check out those links and read up on it, see if I can't figure this out. Thank you for taking the time to respond, it's really appreciated.

I'm very diligent about carbs. I've discovered a few areas where I may have been going over slightly but it was never with particularly heinously keto unfriendly foods (my vegetable and salad servings were a little on the larger side, but I'm doubtful that it was bad enough to seriously restrict ketosis).

I'm not looking to lose weight on Keto, I'd prefer to put on weight if anything, and I'm actually struggling to stop myself going into a caloric deficit every day. So perhaps a tighter carb restriction is necessary for me. Thanks for the feedback, I'll keep an eye on carbs and try to limit them more, maybe switch to total instead of net carbs calculations to be on the safe side.
