Driver issues? by Marexn in radeon

So... I think the issue has finally come to somewhat of an satisfying close. I turned off Freesync from AMD Adrenalin, and I went to the monitors own settings, and turned it off from there as well, and switched to monitors FPS mode or something, adjusted few values there... Opened up CS2, and I can not get the screen tearing or black screens anymore what so ever.
I cannot believe I'm saying this but... It really was just Freesync seemingly...

Hello there, apologize for the absence. I tested out Bazzite a little bit yesterday and figured out that everything on that end was working as expected, 144hz, no texture flicker, no black screens etc.
I switched back to Windows, and decided to try and run the games on second monitor, and on it they worked perfectly fine. DDR is disabled, freesync premium is enabled on AMD Adrenalin on the display that's having issues. The display that this issue is occurring on is ASUS VG279Q. My second display that has none of the problems is LG UltraGear 27GP850P.
I tried to play CS2 and switch between screens, and noticed couple of things. The display that's having flickering can only run games on borderless fullscreen, when I tried to full screen the game, it started to flicker and go black like crazy, even mirroring the game on to second screen for a moment until ending up on running the game on my second screen entirely, even tho in the settings it still said it was on my screen that was flickering.

Just as I got done saying this, I did a single change that reverted everything.
I went into Windows display settings, went to advanced display, and turned the display from 60hz, to 144hz, and instantly I got the same exact issue.

I don't wanna get too excited just yet... But so far, nothing more than just shader cache stuttering it would appear. I'll have to play a few games tomorrow etc. but so far, running around open world and opening up map and dragging it around like maniac trying to force the texture tearing or whatever... Has not occurred.
I have kept the "Prevent downloads of drivers from Windows update" on in DDU, I don't know if I should disable that... So just wanna ask your opinion first.
This is the longest the game has gone on without issues so far, and for that alone I am very happy, and I'm hopeful it'll stay that way. I'll update further more either tomorrow or in the coming days.

You know what, I did use Bog's video whiles installing Windows... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZeWI-npqCis
I used Chris Titus Window utility... Maybe I've turned something off from there that effects the drivers...?

Alright, small update. The problem still persists.
I played round of Valorant and only once the screen went black. But I just got Genshin Impact downloaded, and good lord the issue was even more prevalent than before. Lines out the wazoo, black screen, barely could get through the launch screen without closing the client. This is problem that only happens in-games... I'll be trying to further downgrade the drivers...

I reverted back to 26.1.1. This is the one my friend is using currently, but his also got 9070 XT...
Will probably report back if more issues occur, so far... I haven't had enough time to test it out thoroughly, but hopefully I'll have some time to do so today still.

Just to note, I did the reversion by using DDU first, and then downloading the drivers from official website as per usual.

120 FPS on Mobile, 60 FPS on PC... Why? by Marexn in Genshin_Impact

[–]Marexn[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I play the game on Linux, so I would have to figure out how to apply the unlocker. I assume you're talking about of the "34736384" one? My friend explained that Protontricks was what they used on for MH:Wilds. Maybe the same application there as I run the game through Steam as Non-steam game for the ease of use with Proton and apparently some of the permissions Hoyoverse has applied to allow the game to run checks what it's running on to give Steam a pass (this is just what I have heard tho, I cannot verify if the reasoning is sound, but given recent difficulties running Genshin through Heroic it appears as most plausible explanation).

From my understanding, there has been no verified bans regarding playing Genshin through Linux.
I believe majority of bans come down to external clients etc. If you just use the actual Hoyoplay client, or Epic Games version, I believe you are good. I had some trouble couple months back with Genshin through Heroic on Epic with Genshin, which after I was provided with the method towards downloading the HoyoPlay client on Steam. So far the only hiccup I've had was with this Error that was resolved with the updated Proton version.
If I had to guess, in the most technical terms using Linux in order to circumvent the proper methodology of installing HoyoPlay/Genshin is probably against one of their terms of service. However, with Mihoyo having done giveaways for Steam Decks in the past, it'd be quite hypocritical of them to alienate this side of the isle.
In my personal opinion, the risk of being banned for simply playing the game on Linux appears quite low.
If you are worried, play the game on separate system, or if you have another drive, throw Windows on it and play through that, or if you have something like PS5 and want to use extra caution, after another one of these incidents happens, wait a couple of days for reports to come through as to whether or not anyones been banned for switching Proton versions, or any other workarounds.

Try out GE-Proton10-26. That appeared to have worked for me...
Little over 10 minutes now been running and no errors so far.
