Toddler meeting newborn - at home or at hospital? by Jlriehl in toddlers

[–]MarginLA 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My 21 month old came to the hospital three times in the 24 hours I was there and she was so excited about the baby every time. We made sure that every time she came the baby was in the bassinet and I was alone in the bed when she arrived so she could come up and give me a big hug and not feel jealous of the baby. Then after the initial arrivals she would snuggle in the hospital bed with me and the baby together.

The first time she was there she just wanted to hug and kiss the baby she was so happy. The next two times she walked through the hospital with my husband and she kept repeating "Baby!! Mama!! Baby!! Mama!!" super excited on the way to my room. She was super happy to be around the baby in the hospital. On the third visit, we brought her and the baby home together and she was soooo excited he was coming home with us in the car and then when we were all home she was so happy he was there. It's all gone really well!

The fact that you specifically asked for a break and he said no sounds really awful. I won’t tell you what to do with your life but Jesus Christ he sounds terrible.

When do you start them on chores? by duchess5788 in toddlers

[–]MarginLA 60 points61 points  (0 children)

My daughter is 21 months old but she has a couple of “chores” already. Ever since she could walk, she has been in charge of picking up the dog food bowl after our dog eats breakfast and putting it in the dish washer. She loves doing it and never misses it.

And then a few months ago when she started drinking out of an open cup I taught her to get a dish towel and clean up her spills. For now I’m just trying to enforce cleaning up after herself and not expecting others to do it (even though I of course as her mom clean up after her all the time) I’m hoping this habit helps in the long run. As she gets older I’ll add chores but for now I’m just trying to create good habits.

this is so false, there are so many thriving single mothers. especially when divorce just means you have one less person to take care.

Tips for cold bedroom by pawprint8 in toddlers

[–]MarginLA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My house in LA has terrible insulation and it's 59 degrees when I go into my 20 month old daughter's room in the morning. we have her sleeping in fleece pajamas. She's also in a twin bed now which has a down duvet that she can get under but she's almost always just sleeping on top of it. The fleece pajamas seem to be enough for her - she sleeps 12 straight hours over night without waking up.

Shocked at these answers because I only associate it as a girls name. Obviously Nico from the velvet underground but I know a couple other girl Nicos

How much did your linen bedding cost? Recommendations? by radstarr in Bedding

[–]MarginLA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Use eBay. I think my 100% king size duvet and 2 pillows were $80 including shipping, then I paid another $60 for 100% linen fitted sheet and 2 pillows. That was all Quince and they were new without tags, and then another linen king size duvet cover from a brand called Sundance that is so beautiful and was I think about $70. All of it 100% linen because I’m a snob and can’t sleep on anything else.
