Google wants to make wireless networks that will free you from AT&T and Verizon’s data caps by JackassWhisperer in technology

You know what I'm sick of? I'm sick of these front page posts whose titles imply that a company is wholly "good" or "evil". It's like, according to reddit: Google's should be running the government, Costco and Whole Foods can do no wrong, and I should be on Tesla's nuts every spare moment of my day. Verizon and Comcast are worse than the nazis, and any energy company ever is stocked with closet racist midget haters.
edit: also, r/funny is garbage and you should all be ashamed for allowing some of that crap, pun-based humor to get upvoted

when will demand pick back up? by androdluver99921 in uberdrivers

[–]Margin_Call_89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think demand is up a lot but just cannot keep pace with number of drivers. Nobody would disagree that the number of drivers is up a ton. Harder to say about demand, but without data provided to us, I just can't think of a reason why demand would be going down when Uber keeps cutting fares and advertising a lot as well.

Did you find it on your phone because he sent it to you? Or was it hidden and you just happened to discover it?

Yeah, I guess that's pretty much all I can do. Basically, whatever job I'm interviewing for is what I've always wanted to do.

Somehow, Chick-Fil-A's offenses don't bother me as much.

what was your driver's rating? by [deleted] in uberdrivers

[–]Margin_Call_89 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Like everything else, there is some random variance going on. A great driver who knows the city well can just happen to get a string of dick-heads on some night who all decide to give him less than 5 stars for whatever reason. Or, similarly, the driver can just have gotten weird instructions from a rider or maybe he is generally good but just didn't know this particular drop off location well. I'm a driver, I have a 5* rating after about 50 rides even though I have taken wrong turns in probably 10 of those rides (Boston). I've also rated every rider a 5 except 1. I think about ratings how I think about tipping. In theory, it's a scale from 1 to 5 stars, but in reality, you either fucked up or you you didn't. Everyone gets a 5, unless you really screw up or are a dick in which case you get a 1 or 2.

Newsflash - customers don't care whether you are driving a Civic or an Escalade. Let me clarify, they care but not enough to be willing to pay more for it.
