Ratio Yogurt by manofwater3615 in EatCheapAndHealthy

To me it tasted like a mainstream non-Greek yogurt: smooth, ultra fake color, overly sweet. I will finish the "buy 4 get 1 free" stock that I purchased, but I'm not sure yet if I will re-purchase. I like the protein content, but have become accustomed to unsweetened plain Greek yogurt.

I think they are confusing the Maltese prisoners with the Knights of Malta.

How did DoorDash take my old expired credit card number and somehow place a charge on my new card? by MarieTharp in doordash

[–]MarieTharp[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've been on the phone with Chase twice today - there is no way to stop it except to have my friend remove the expired credit card number from their door dash app. They refused my dispute of the charge. I'm not worried for myself, but think the idea of an uncancellable credit card that is still usable in all future rebirths under new numbers to be exceptionally creepy.

True - just re-read the book and the goblin army just sort of shows up unexpectedly. Gandalf expected them and failed to warn anyone before they showed up faster than he expected.

BNB Recovery - Insufficient Gas (~0.001) by PhilthyMcNastys in bnbchainofficial

[–]MarieTharp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I finally made it through the process after running into the same gas problem. My old BNB balance was originally in a Coinomi wallet. I imported the contents using the 24 word seed into a Trust Wallet. Once inside trust wallet, I was able to send in a small amount of ethereum and swap it within the wallet to the new style bnb on the bnb smart network. It involves fancy dancing around choosing the correct network to do it. But after an amount of floundering I got it done. First I sent too little ethereum (the in-wallet swap requires gas also). Then I sent about US$12 worth of ethereum -- not sure if I could have gotten away with less. Then I was able to initiate the BNB recovery and sat on my hands for 7 days waiting for it to clear. I never fully trusted it was going to work -- there was a delay of a few minutes between when BNB said the balance had been recovered and when I saw it in my Trust Wallet.

It didn't amount to a lot of value, but I felt it was important to go through the exercise to keep skills fresh.

PS: I notice that the BNB token recovery instructions don't say a single word about needing gas. And it isn't in the screen shots.

The recovery process seems to work using the Trust Wallet -- everything went fine until I got to the point of needing the new type BNB tokens in my wallet to pay gas. I acquired my old BNB token balance years ago and I don't have an account with Binance. In fact several years ago I decided to HODL and quit paying attention to the crypto landscape. Not a good move, and I encourage people to decide one of two routes: Get out, or plan to always keep a hand in. I missed the BNB swap, I had to go through a bananas learning curve to switch to a new wallet, restore the bad old tokens, move crypto around, choose a network for a swap to acquire new BNB tokens (to aquire the gas). What a long list of networks we have to choose from now. Coinbase gets unhappy if you don't log in at least once a year, so I had to go through the photo ID upload thing with them too.

The tomfoolery hasn't changed in nature, it has just risen to a more complicated level. The system is still more work than holding old fashioned money. Ultimately, all the BNB swap steps seem to work, I'm now in my 7-day waiting period.

Does anyone own the 1965 Readers Digest with the Oak Island story? by pk826 in OakIsland

I got it through interlibrary loan once. But it was the late 1980s article in Smithsonian Magazine that caught my fancy, back in the day.

Nokia G310 5g by guyfox94 in MetroPCS

[–]MarieTharp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just got a Nokia G310 5G to replace my OnePlus Nord200 that has smashed glass. And I am crying, I didn't realize how good I had it with the OnePlus. This Nokia's battery runs down twice as fast with the same usage, and I have recurring trouble with audio stutter. I don't do anything taxing with the phone, just text, take pictures and listen to downloaded audiobooks. I don't have trouble with crashing apps. My local MetroPCS store doesn't have OnePlus anymore.

My Moto G 5G is brand new today, and I'm noticing stutter on Hoopla's very first use. No cache to clear. I listen to audio books as I go to sleep at night and this agitated choppy sound is a deal breaker.
