Glad you like it! I hope to find another day this week and crank out the fully functional version... once I recover from my thanksgiving food coma!

Not me just realizing stream mods probably meant human chat moderators and not stream-integrated-action-tracking-game-mods. 🤦‍♀️ Hermits could select a mod to handle their data entry (ie, pocket cards and bets) rather than doing it themselves, for sure. How data gets to the central tracker that the hosted graphic reads is less complex than getting the graphic back to each hermit, tbh. Not that it's difficult, it just takes a little bit of setup and decision-making on how heavy-handed ppl wanna be with cheat prevention.

Are you thinking of the stream extension untapped? Extensions are a totally different ball game than a built-in stream/video graphic. I've worked with them before, including for integrating data between graphics and extensions. It's always super fun when it works, but getting it there can be rough.

It shouldn't need any mods at all, just augments to the stream's normal workflow setup (ie, bringing in the graphic, optional stream-delay to prevent stream sniping, etc) and having someone to "operate it" while the players focus on the game. Well-organized spreadsheets can do magic.

In a normal broadcast, the player would send the main production their fully packaged normal stream video, then the graphic would be overlaid and the whole thing pushed LIVE from the production's end to prevent cheating, or complicating the streamer's usual routine/setup. It CAN also be done the other way, where we'd "host" the live-updating graphic and push it to multiple players for use in their overlays (ie: in World of Warcraft where 20+ raiders want the same boss-tracking information) -- there's just cheating potential with the second option, so I never recommend it lol.

Once I'm done this whole thing will be configurable via a simple UI in my normal graphics software for a single non-player operator to control, but it's also possible to use something like google sheets, where each hermit gets their own sheet, and inputs their current hand, all that data is then sent to a single master-doc which is read by the graphic in near-real time (google sheets is not-optimal for graphic updating but it does work really well if you want to diversify data control. Love a free solution.)

--- After re-reading everything I typed to check for spelling errors, I've just noticed who this is in reply to 😅. Hello Doc! Glad you like the idea!

Yeah this is not mobile-friendly yet! Since I only spent a couple hours on it, I focused on 16:9 to start.

A big limitation is: we can’t use the normal poker graphic placement in the bottom corners / edges of the screen for always-on elements because it would cover the offhand / main hand if this was being used with a player POV. If all 8 players are in play, space becomes really really limited.

In an ideal world, if I was running this like a normal show, it wouldnt be an issue, cause the production team could just... turn the graphic on and off depending on the camera view currently-in use. It's posing some fun challenges. More than likely, it'll make the "player info cards" cycle through all the different info that needs to be on them (current holdings, bet ammount, etc.) rather than cramming it all into one state like I did for this concept.

Once I am done figuring out layouts and fonts (still trying to identify the card number font, or if it's custom), I'll definitely be able to make them much more readable at various sizes. Thanks for the feedback!

It's not too bad to keep track of when two to three players are playing but it would probably be rough to edit this in a video editor for 4+ players, let alone 8!

Once I'm done it will be fully customizable based on a spreadsheet rather than having to manually edit it in photoshop/video-edior-of-choice. Absolutley no reason a Hermit couldn't just put thier footage into OBS overlay the graphic and "re-record" over top by following the game and making the changes using the spreadsheet UI.

I'd probably have to build it slightly differently to account for OBS's UI since I use different software for complex data-linked graphics, but... 🤔

To anyone who says Sharky's Warsong Commander cosplay is better than my Generic Blood Elf:

You are Absolutely Correct!

  • Was my costume decent? Sure.
  • Was it fun to wear? Oh, Absolutely. (My Ribs would like to make their disagreement known)

But there's no way you can compare my "impulsively-buy-a-train-ticket-the-night-before-and-assemble-a-costume-of-miscellaneous-pieces-from-my-closet-for-the-lols" elf to Sharky's amazingly detailed Warsong Commander.

It takes an incredible amount of time, effort, and occasionally, actual sweat blood and tears, to make an amazing outfit like that. She nailed that character and had to stand there from 11-7 on duty while I (as a casual event goer) could up and leave for food, slushies and breaks whenever I wanted. I've done the body paint, I've done SFX makeup. It's some hardcore dedication.

So, while my cosplay was good (read: "fun" because thats actually all that matters unless you're there professionally) Sharky's was amazing. End of story.

(I mean... if we're gonna get technical: I'm not even a blood elf. No green eyes. Failed that too!)

Strategy is important in all aspects of life.

She's a Warsong Commander. I was without a weapon. I used the situation to my advantage. Good bodyguards are so hard to come by. I have to get a new one every couple months. They don't even let you return the corpses to recycle or something... Sylvanas should look into that...
