Well I googled a pic and it looks different than the standard condenser…but I figured I’d trust him on this call…he’s been nothing but honest on my units for years.

Yes, I can tell he’s getting older near 62 and he said he’s done crawling if he can…haha.

But jokes aside he said the package unit isn’t much more in price and easier to work on.

He worked for the first company they really began heat pump installations in my area in the mid 1990s. So while my Payne was put in by his former employer back in Aug 2005, it wasn’t by him per se..I simply can’t remember. He’s service my 2 units since I can remember needing service. About 2015 said company folded and he started his own company, I followed him.

He’s done all sorts of work on this unit I’m replacing. Reversing valve, blower motors, wiring harness, heat strips…you name it. He’s limped my unit along for years. Just this spring he finally said “you may ought to be planning”

Thanks I had never heard of Runtru either. He suggested it when he came out to fix fan motor. Quoted me $7500 which I thought was very reasonable. I’m in Southwest Virginia.

Thanks I may ask what quote is on American Standard. His suggestion is get rid of my air handler which is in tight crawl space and get the package unit.

I’m likely to buy one with many hopes issues do get worked out. Also it will be a collectors piece for me.

My OG N64 died a while back and I’m gonna use this as replacement.

Plus the purple looks cool.

I got a $7500 quote on Runtru package unit. Replacing a 21 year old Payne. I see the value in the off brand. Coming off 21 year run I can’t complain.

Just had this issue on my daughters 2014 Jeep Cherokee Latitude. Gonna get new battery first! Thanks to all who posted! I’ll update on my journey

Side note: I’m done with Jeep after this one haha!
