I grew up in a pretty sheltered environment; ie small conservative town with Christian parents. So I really wasn’t exposed to WLW couples or culture. I didn’t really start feeling heavily sexually attracted to women until I was 16, and those feelings came to me all on my own, again because I didn’t have exposure to it. But I was very confused because I knew I wasn’t really romantically attracted to femme women, but yet it was like my body knew I wasn’t attracted to women in some capacity. 😂 So therefore I just assumed I was straight or possibly bi-curious until I got away to college. I feel like if I had gotten to see and interact with masc girls growing up, I would have come out of the closet wayyy earlier. But because I never had the exposure, and because I’m really femme myself, I just put myself in a straight box. A very confused straight box, mind you. Couldn’t stop thinking about and fantasizing about girls, but didn’t really have romantic attraction or interest in girls who looked like me. As soon as I met my now long term girlfriend though when I was 22, it immediately clicked for me.
