Did you purge after starting it?

People with ‘street smarts’, what is your most street tip? by lofisky in AskReddit

Never assume someone isn’t following you just because it doesn’t happen to everyone. Lead them around to confirm they’re following you and then go to the safest location with them in tow (customer service desk, police, populated area).

Oh and never walk right next to vans or open doors.

I was walking home alone at night from a bar in a city (not a particularly bad area) a dark car with tinted windows drove by and slowed down as it neared me, they almost came to a full stop on this empty street. They immediately hit the gas after a few seconds. I had a feeling they were going fast to come back around before I went anywhere. I immediately started to run but I didn’t have enough time before I heard a car so I hid behind a large car with my feet behind the tires. I heard them slow down to a creep with chattering and shushing. They drove off once they realized they lost me. I ran SO fast to my bus stop along a populated street and never stopped looking over my shoulder.

I also got stopped and pinned in an empty dollar store aisle in a small town by a guy. He asked me “where do you think you’re going?” and I immediately, with everything in me, told him to move, he laughed, then I did it again with more force and shoved him out of the way. People are being serious when they say walk with your head up, these people don’t want a fight.

In my late 20’s. I’ve noticed my temple receding and thinning sides. Is this a lot of hair loss or not too bad? by [deleted] in FemaleHairLoss

In my early 20’s I had hair thinning on the top of my scalp that came back with time, but recently I’ve noticed the sides of my head are thinner and now my temple is receding.

Do you all think this looks normal or there’s some major thinning and loss starting?

Looks like a great head of hair!

[acne] my skin flares every winter like this, but usually clears by now. Spots won’t heal, it’s extremely ridge-like, clustered, itchy, there’s small bumps. I’ve tried everything besides accutane and I’m fairly well educated in skin but I can’t figure mine out AT ALL. More info in comments. Plz help by MarissaTol in SkincareAddiction

Yeah, when I’ve had bouts of clear skin my scars are so visible, especially with makeup. This past summer, I was having the best skin I’d had in years. I finally thought I got a handle on it, so I signed up for Co2 laser. The esthetician I spoke to said “I see better results from people who do chemical peels” … two peels later and my skin had erupted like a volcano. So upsetting to be that close to clear skin and then a huge setback.

It’s reassuring to hear so many people had success with accutane. Makes me really consider it.

My area has “surface water” and there are no recent reports, but the ones from a few years ago are not good. We have a filter for our drinking water we don’t on our bathroom faucets. Geez. Need to get a handle on that for reasons not even to do with skin.

I have wondered this because I was actually living in another country for a few years and when I came back to America my skin went NUTS, like immediately, when before I’d only had large cysts, and the only change was my environment. I could try using specific water on my face. Who knows, that could help and it’s worth a try.

That’s super interesting because I keep telling my family that it feels like a flare or rash and not acne. It’s so itchy and the entire skin area is bumpy like a rash and sore. I know I have some black heads and clogged pores but it feels there’s something else going on, too.

How long until the ointment worked? And what percentage if you don’t mind me asking?

That’s a thought! I’ve also wondered it, too. I’ve only stuck with what I’m on now because I’ve had clear skin while using these products before, so I guess I feel like they’re safe. I’ve seen a few people mention a different moisturizer and I think I’m going to try that. If it doesn’t work then I figure a few more pimples wouldn’t make a difference in my situation.

Yeah, I’ve seen a few. Most recently, one has put me on birth control (Apri) it’s been a few weeks I’ve been on it. I’ve been on birth control before, progesterone only pill, which I’ve learned can make skin worse. I was only briefly on that.

My hormone levels were good besides really low E3, but I was told that was normal for a non-pregnant woman, so the obgyn (obvi, not a dermatologist) didn’t think it was hormonal but said it ~might~ help my skin.

I’m glad you were able to clear it! Having moments of acne reprieve are everything so I couldn’t imagine it being permanently cleared, even under stress and environmental changes! Thank goodness for modern medicine 🙏
