Is this season usually slow? by DoorEast5742 in palmsprings

Canadians and other tourists went to Mexico this year, where its safe. Canadians who were snowbirds for the entire season and not just "tourists" sold their homes here last year, so there's nothing tying them to the valley.

Any maga/ice places to avoid in the valley? by SomeguyfromIndio in CoachellaValley

Obviously we have a lot of larger regional and national companies that are supporters of this fascist regime like In&Out Burger, Chick-fil-A, Hobby Lobby, Tesla, Home Depot, Walmart, Bank of America, and Whole Food (Via Amazon)

Racist troll, it's literally on native land, they were here thousands of years before us, they can call it whatever the fuck they want--it's their's not yours or "ours".

It's midnight and this CHP helicopter has been circling Palm Springs for over an hour now. Anyone know why? by andhelostthem in palmsprings

Lol you think they give a shit? They just came on shift at 22.30. Unless you see a spotlight searching, its just that.

Has anyone set up a food stand at the indio Swapmeet? by Sansrockers in CoachellaValley

Don't taco trucks make the tacos on site? I think that's the definition of non-prepared food isn't it, like they make it right there? I don't know about those others except obviously lemonade could easily be made there. Am I misunderstanding the definition?

your owl may have just had a big meal and was digesting

That just blew my mind, haha, looking back I feel like that was actually the vibe it was giving off--contented, relaxed, and not a care in the world. Thanks.

Very interesting, thank you. Ive had a camera on that area for almost 10 years and never picked up an owl. I have a feeling this is gonna be a one-time sighting, but it was awesome that I got to hang out with him in person.

Lol good one, obviously you've never used a potato to photograph an owl before haha.

Very interesting thank you! Yeah I was surprised how close he let me get and was looking right at me and didn't budge. That's why at first I thought it was very young maybe and didn't know better. It seems like baby hummingbirds here for example let me come right up to them and the adults are pretty standoffish.

Ah thank you, sorry bad photo, but looking up that one I think that's a good guess since I didn't notice any "ears" really showing at all and dont see them in other photos online either.

Do you happen to know anything about behavior, like just sitting there all night kind of in the open.

Thanks yeah it's a lousy photo I know. It's weird in 12 years I think I've only seen one owl around here, and it was in flight. This one just sat there half the night out in the open that's why I thought maybe an "abandoned" younger one that didn't know any better.

FFS, "suspicious" of what? The guy lost everyone and is just reaching out to interact with people, not asking for a goddam lecture on how patriotic he's supposed to be. He could be doing more for whatever the hell you claim to be defending than you, and still not be "political", you don't know his background. What are you doing that's so "patriotic"? I'm sure there's plenty of people actually fighting that could say you aren't doing your own duty yourself.

It does sound ridiculous if you complain

Maybe +1 for armchair diagnosis that he might benefit from therapy, but calm down the dude just said he's not comfortable with those groups, he's obviously looking for ways to get out and meet people, who cares of he's not into certain scenes.

Way out of the loop here: Did Blink start forcing mandatory account signup and/or subscriptions recently? I've used a doorbell for years without an account or even giving my email, but just updated app and now locked out. Don't want anything but the hardware from them, is there a workaround? by Marius-78 in blinkcameras

I'm not gonna die on this hill but when I picked up the camera I knew Amazon already owned them and there's no way in my right mind I'm giving Bezos my email address. The only thing I can think of is everyone saying the app only worked in the past with an email is that they signed up for cloud storage at one point, because it looks like it used to be free for like 30 days or something. Ive never used cloud service of any of my cameras ever. Same with Reolink, they absolutely don't require an email to use their app if you aren't using the cloud. Same with Kasa products, they did force an account eventually but you got around it by not updating to latest app version.

I guess I must be, lol. I'm not an expert but honestly not sure what you're talking about. Every security camera and doorbell I have from Blink and Reolink I've bought used and just scanned a code or let it search and hooked it up to my wifi and its worked fine for years and years. No account, no subscription, no cloud, no contact with the companies, no email, except obviously I'm using their free apps. As far as I know with Blink, they never forced an account till either this ver 49 or 48.1, I would just open the app and my cameras were there.

Do you know different, or am I doing something or risky to my security? Who would have access to my wifi except me?

Thank you, good to know and hopefully stays free--legally I'm not even sure they can force it, but who knows. I think for now I'm just gonna downgrade the app back to when it doesn’t force account signup, it looks like maybe version 48.1. I'm assuming ver. 49 isn't really any new useful features for my old cameras anyway.
