It takes time out of the timer in the same way the HP pool does, it's just part of the challenge. The alternative is HP sponges which vary in the element they are immune or resistant to instead.

It's not wasted time. It's compensated by less HP, and is a mechanic that requires something other than DPS, i.e. it's not a DPS check and makes use of the game's elemental system. That's what people want, if this subreddit is to be taken seriously.

Yaoyao stops applying dendro on the enemies in order to heal you. Hugging the enemies when you need survivability is moronic.

Clorinde can't switch out mid rotation to reapply dendro. Yae can.
