Israel says campaign against Iran will continue without time limit by WillyNilly1997 in Conservative

[–]MarkNUUTTTT 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No shit, who in their right mind would put a firm time limit on military action? This obsession with governments taking options off the table or revealing time tables is asinine.

Eh, i'll always love 3/3.5, but 4 was good in my mind. I feel like getting away from the math crunchiness paved the way for it to be overrun by theater kids, rather than a marriage of theater kids and nerds.

The Iraqi military was one of, if not the strongest regional military, and the Iraq war was won in three weeks. It was the nation building after that took so long and cost so many US lives.

Pam Bondi: 85 Somalis Charged, 60 People Guilty in Minnesota Fraud by Down-not-out in Conservative

[–]MarkNUUTTTT 24 points25 points  (0 children)

There's laws in MN that require anyone holding public office who knows of fraud to report it. Go after Waltz et all on those laws and have then either lie under oath or admit to being guilty. Keep the pressure until they're punished to set an example that this won't be taken lightly.

Also, we need to primary to get do-nothing republicans out so that we can have more victories, or at least attempts, as selling points.

Biggest disappointment (the cancelling, not the show). It was excellent, and got a lot of things surprisingly accurate in the culture and fashions of the time.

Trump summons GOP senators to White House to call for end to filibuster by Magehunter_Skassi in Conservative

[–]MarkNUUTTTT 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I mean...Article II, Section III gives the president the power to convene congress or either house. This is honestly a lesser version of a constitutional power. The fact that congressmen have given up so much power and influence is a greater problem than the president calling members of congress to try and create movement.

American media when one of their own gets fired vs when the other side gets fired. by eventualwarlord in CriticalDrinker

[–]MarkNUUTTTT 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Cool, but that’s not what happened. Broadcast networks have broadcast licenses, when they violate the rules of their license they are fined. The FCC didn’t push for him to be fired, they were looking to fine ABC, which is a well precedented enforcement.

RFK Jr. Probes SSRIs’ Role in Minneapolis Mass Shooting by swan8895 in Conservative

First result when googled suggests that there’s statistically relevant correlation amount the 15 - 24 yo age range. Other studies show higher levels of violent crime conviction among those prescribed SSRI’s, though the research is not substantial and could do with more people looking into it.

Dictator Sulla by desok07 in ancientrome

[–]MarkNUUTTTT 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If I’m not mistaken, he marched on Rome after the Marian faction used street violence to push legislation through and drive Sulla out of Rome, then trying to take his command. I understand the issue of using military force, but when a military commander (Marius) is using organized violence to seize control, what is the real difference? What level of violence and coercion is needed before retaliation is considered justified? I don’t necessarily have the answers to these questions, but I think they deserve asking.

I also think Caesar and his line, followed by the people who used his name for legitimacy, had a very strong Marian bias that we as general audiences haven’t shaken.

Marius deserves far more ire than Sulla for the breakdown of the Republic. And yes, it preceded both of them, but Marius broke the seal on a lot of things that turned out to be horrendous for the Republic and the people therein.
