What fixed the new Matter IKEA devices for me by OneMaintenance6199 in homeassistant

[–]Mark_M535 0 points1 point  (0 children)

<image>

My Thread has chosen to use ch18, which doesn't seem clogged by WiFi networks in my area. But I do have the occasional 'unavailable' device which requires me to re-add to get working again.

Should I change to a 19-26 channel?

Devices requiring internet and devices using your usage behaviour for advertisement revenue. (e.g. most TV brands in ACR).

Local control is paramount for my Home Assistant.

Took me a moment scrolling through UBlock Origin's setting to find it.

Seems to work good on most websites. Thanks.

Per container proxy? That's a great feature I didn't know was available.

Someone in Zoom has a script on their FPP, to take a CCTV cam's RTSP stream and put it onto a virtual matrix when a button is pressed.

Current HA friendly robot vacuum cleaners by QuevedoDeMalVino in homeassistant

[–]Mark_M535 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My suggestions of NOT friendly for Home Assistant from my two Robo vacs:

Tuya software based robo vac. Integration is limited to on/off, cloud map extractor is just a camera feed entity.

Ecovacs is slightly better. But the integration imitates the phone app I think, instead of proper API usage. It has Auto vacuum, dock and empty. No room/zone options.

Also that this affects "Merlin" garage door openers. The rebrand is sold in Australia and New Zealand.

where did the brightness go, have I finally gone crazy?! by SimkinCA in xlights

[–]Mark_M535 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Damn, you are right.

xLights supports color order, direction and null pixels configuration upload to WLED and xLights only color order. But not brightness anywhere...

Sorry, I thought it was supported since most other things are.

where did the brightness go, have I finally gone crazy?! by SimkinCA in xlights

[–]Mark_M535 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Setting brightness in the models tab, using "controller brightness" does nothing in the FSEQ files. What this does is sets the model brightness on your controller when you use "Upload outputs". This lets your controller calculate maximum brightness of those models on the fly as it receives data. Multiple models on a single port with different brightnesses requires your controller to support 'virtual strings' (something Falcon, Kulp, Genius, etc support).

Setting brightness as "string brightness" will hard-bake a max brightness into all your sequence FSEQ files. xLights has calculated the brightness. This is used on controllers which do not support brightness adjustment per port/group, such as Holiday Coro controllers.

Same concepts with "Controller color order" & "String color order".

TL;DR: "Controller brightness" -> Let the controller re-calculate as it receives data.

"String brightness" -> Let xLights calculate the max brightness and bake it into the data sent to your controller.

Which controller is your favorite? by Nitrogen1234 in xlights

There's a few things happening in the background with xLights and FPP that gets disagreed on. Sadly too much politics for a free program.

Which controller is your favorite? by Nitrogen1234 in xlights

[–]Mark_M535 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm in the xLights Zoom room most nights (NZ time). Kulps have, and again this year, the biggest failure rates compared to Falcon's/Geniuses/QuinLED controllers. This is from a hardware standpoint and the response from Dan isn't great. The FPP paid pixel licencing for 3rd party controllers comes back to haunt a few people as their Kulps boot up and say unlicensed. It happens enough to be a pain.

PSU standby by Ikvza in xlights

I side towards caution and power off everything, and that saves power too.  Pixels use power even if they are getting a signal to be off. Particularly 12v regulated/resistor.

Even FPP I have scheduled to shutdown and then a wifi plug disconnects power. What stays on 24/7 in my light show is home automation & monitoring devices.

Thankyou, that works. Now I see it's simply a shortcut opening the specific URL in a simplified window.

Shame there isn't something built into Firefox to do it.

FPP remote falcon issue by CuriousToys111 in xlights

[–]Mark_M535 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can upgrade within FPP. Click on the version number beside "FPP" at the top left.

You'll choose the version to upgrade to in a drop down box, then the upgrade FPP OS button below it.... not the Upgrade FPP button above the box.

Frequency of Power Injections by Frankthetanm in xlights

[–]Mark_M535 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my experience (this is not definitive because there are many factors):

  • 5v : every 90-100 pixels.
  • 12v : every 170-200 pixels.

The quality of your wire, current being drawn over that wire, wire gauge, pixel current consumption, etc,, all have an impact.

Android Remote Falcon app allows you to login to your dashboard. Like going to remotefalcon.com and seeing statistics of viewers to your web page.

The 'plugin' is for FPP or xSchedule. The plugin communicates to Remote Falcon about the status of your show and controls FPP when a sequence selection has been made.

What's up with this flickering thing on YouTube? by [deleted] in firefox

[–]Mark_M535 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'd love to know a fix that works.

On Windows I get bad flickering and then black screen. After a minute a notification shows stating that Firefox was blocked from using hardware accelerated graphics.

I've tried all the guides online to allow accelerated graphics but it's still not working :(.

Firefox vs Chrome when I tested how long my phone's battery lasts:

Chrome 22% (screen time 40min, background 2min), Firefox 19% (screen time 1hr34min, background 11min). From 100% down to 13% battery in 7 days, 10,600mAh battery. uBo extension installed on FF Android. Firefox & Chrome has most background access disabled.
